Harry Chappas
Going to be a great next 10 days. White Sox baseball is in limbo and there are some great games out there. In my world of cub hatred there is a perfect storm a brewing with their three main rivals in the playoffs and the Cardinals being left for dead and now rising like a Phoenix.

The Astros losing last night was pretty big for them in their pursuit for the top seed. Sox will more than likely be there in two weeks. That said, I would prefer the Rays for no other reason than I hate the Astros and don’t want to watch them play the Sox unless it’s the ALCS. RibbieRubarb
From Herb Lawrence on Twitter. This is what Astros TV thinks our starting line-up will look like against them. TLR playing 4D Chess with TWO Centerfielders and no one at 3rd! Brilliant!
GreatScott82
Would much rather face the Astros. The Rays are scarier, IMO. Also, it would give me great pleasure knowing we knocked out the team that put a horrible black eye on Major League Baseball. Also, LaRussa vs Dusty? Like the old Cardinal-Cubs rivalry days? How can you not like that drama? Bring on the 'Stros!

flavum
It’s not an error. One is just division standings and elimination numbers. The other is just wildcard standings and elimination numbers.
CentralChamps21
Two potential clinches today - Tampa Bay in the AL East and Milwaukee in the NL Central. Houston has a magic # of 3 in the AL West Houston is 4 behind Tampa and 4 ahead of the Sox for playoff seeding. Boston is now 1 ahead of New York in the wild card race, with Toronto and Seattle both 2 behind the Yankees. Oakland is 4 back. In the National League, Atlanta now only up 1.5 over Philadelphia in the East, and San Francisco up by 1 over Los Angeles in the West, with the Giants and Dodgers already locked into the postseason. St. Louis has put an absolute strangle hold on the second wild card spot, now up 5 over Philly, 6 over Cincinnati and 7 over San Diego. Weekend series with the biggest impact have the Yankees at Boston, Toronto at Minnesota, Pittsburgh at Philly and Atlanta at San Diego. Unfortunately for NY, their next 3 are at Toronto while Boston and Sale open a 3 game at O's. That is a great race between those 3.
flavum
Astros may be losing 4 in a row today. Something the Sox haven’t done since June. As much as they’ve had frustrating games, the Sox didn’t let it get out of hand in the second half.
chw42
Oakland walks off the Astros to complete the sweep. The Sox are 3 games back of that 2nd spot. Houston plays Tampa and Oakland to finish the year. Maybe we still have a shot if we go 5-1 in the final week.
