I for one hope that ReyLo keeps it up. He's been here with us the entire rebuild. If he can perform, he deserves to be on this postseason roster as much as anyone.

I’m rooting for him of course but yea not really there isn’t that much of a case for him in October, certainly not “as much as anyone”.

go sox!

If he's pitching like he has, he's certainly one of the best 5-6 pitchers to bring into the post season for the bullpen. Who's better than him:

Hendricks, Kimbrel, Kopech, Bummer, Crochet... he's #6 right now unless I'm missing someone.

Just looked him up and he's thrown 30 more innings than Lynn. Wonder how he'll hold up in September-October.

Yeah.  Anyone know what his previous high is?

The question will be how writers look at this and what they value.  If they value wins, Bassit is likely the only one in the AL within reach of 20.  And certainly because of the week Lynn spent on the IL, his innings are higher.  But if they value ERA and other things, Lynn will likely be at an advantage.  My gut tells me that if nobody wins 20 games, which I think is a real possibility, Lynn takes it.  If Bassit does win 20 games, I think he's got a solid chance.  But the ERA is still a little high.  I think the bad outing against Tampa and his time away likely to Cole out of it.

Also keep in mind that they vote for this in mid September.  I think if the vote were taken today, Lynn would win.  But Bassit is peaking at the right time.

Bassitt didn't really figure it out until age 30. Soxtalk would never have applied that level of patience to any of our young pitchers.

This will be COMPLETELY ignored in every single psychotic, homicidal post in the game thread.

I'd still rather have ReyLo out there though than someone like Foster or Ruiz.  I would have felt much better about ReyLo coming out for the 9th on Sunday than Foster.

They knew he was starting tonight's game, probably why he didn't pitch the 9th on Sunday.

I think it was 144 in 2019.  His career major league inning's pitched are not much more than Rodon.  No guarantee moving forward he holds up the last six weeks at 32 years old.

Ruiz is ahead of Foster on my depth chart.  He could turn into a valuable asset if we don't give up on him.  He's an ex-catcher who hits 100 at times; give him a while.  Lopez too.  He looks like a new man since he came back from AAA and I like the look of it.

Oh yeah.  I think Ruiz in the future could be pretty valuable.  Just not sure right now.  He's still figuring it out though.

He has to go on a run.  His disadvantage is that he's not going to get to 20 wins and that he's had some embarrassing clunkers.

Not saying he is better, just saying he is the pitcher "standing in the way".
