It was arguable to take Gio out, but clearly the Sox are giving Kimbrel every chance to succeed. Then when he came in he looked terrible. If Kimbrel had been lights out for the Sox he doesn't get pulled. The only person to blame is Kimbrel. Kimbrel has a 5.40 ERA. He’ll turn it around, but the other relievers are pitching as good or better to this point.

But he was pulled because him versus Lowe was somehow a worse matchup than Bummer versus Arozarena? No. Pitch him, he’s one of the best closers ever. If he fails, it’s on him. 2 minutes ago, Balta1701 said: And he was one out away from pitching over it without giving up a run. He’s good enough to do that. Kimbrel wasn't closing and so far he has been a pretty mediocre set up man for the Sox. You're acting like he has had a sub 2 era for the Sox when he's actually had a 4.5

TLR was lucky that the Sox came back and won the game. Hopefully it motivates him. exactly. maybe don't look like a skidmark on ur underwear and you won't get pulled. in theory if we have a shitload of great bullpen arms you ride the hot ones on any given night, he was looking like ass. Bummer was also atrocious. There was a lot of blame to go around.

You need to show confidence in Kimbrel, not throw him under the bus like a Yermin.

It was the right decision, even if Bummer was bad too. Kimbrel needs to be better, he knows it, TLR knows it and he knows how hard it was to pull an elite vet in that spot.

No it wasn’t the right decision. Not with Arozarena on the bench.

I am questioning not only the Bummer move, but also intentionally walking Cruz to load the bases and put the go ahead run in scoring position, like if Cruz is Barry Bonds. How can you justify that?

No clue, its hard to justify the move. But Tony's job is to win games not make up for Hahn being silly.

Yep...we gave up a lot of player capital and money in order to have this lock-down bullpen. I think we need to trust Kimbrel when these situations arise.
Harry Chappas
Bummer needed to be better that is all. He had been lights out for a while tonight he wet himself. Thankfully the Sox won and Gio was fantastic,

That seems…less than fair? 1

The offense has had a few runs of being anemic. The starting pitching has had a few bad starts, but not really having any bad runs. Looks like the bullpen is going through a bad run, it's best to work through this stuff before the playoffs start. Let's work out the kinks before go time.
