Thanks again, for punting the series. Definitely not important games, am I right? More important to be the road team in the postseason.

But they’ll just flip that switch and go on a tear come October ??

How many times have we seen the Sox win game 1 of a series and then drop the next 2 post ASB?

so, so frustrating

As it stands right now we are the 5th best team in the AL. In terms of who I think would win a 7 game playoff series.

1. Rays

2. Yankees

3. Astros

4. Jays

5. Us

Nobody on: .273 AVG, 10.6% BB, 20.6%K

Runner on 1st only: .313 AVG, 7.7% BB, 24.2%K

RISP: .195 AVG, 6.9% BB, 20.8% K

So no, he doesn't K more, but he walks less and hits far worse.

Doesn't make it any less frustrating, and like Fathom said, I'm sure Vaughn's exit velo numbers go way down with RISP... but... no hitter as good as Vaughn will ever sustain a .217 BABIP over an extended period of time. He only has 102 PA's this year with RISP. In the grand scheme of things, that's nothing. Vaughn is clearly pressing up there, but the strikeouts not spiking is a good sign. His pitch recognition is good and he'll eventually start doing damage in RISP like he does in every other situation. Hopefully it starts happening soon.

You piqued my curiosity cuz it’s felt like a lot. Four times, but all four coming over the last six series.

Why wouldn’t you bring in the lefty killer in Tepera there?  Another brilliant game for Tony. These intentional walks are working great.

Crochet needed to get Phillips out.  The intentional walk was the right move.  Cruz the other night, same thing.

Guys need to do their job.

The whining about LaRussa is justified at times but today it's a lack of offense as it was yesterday and for most of Friday.  Tampa started shit pitchers and the offense did nothing.

Maybe the offense needs to do something.

Then why would you draft him, and also where the hell did his velocity go

They value relievers more than any other team in baseball. See signing the biggest reliever contract ever twice (Robertson and Hendriks), trading significant resources for Kimbrel with an already elite closer in place, and drafting Burdi (no doubt reliever) in rd1 of the draft.

Except Ruiz gave up the bases cleaning double.  Not the guy you go to if you want to keep the deficit the same.
