Greg, I believe that this is what you're told, but I'm highly confident that what you're being told is either a flat-out lie or a misunderstanding of what's going on. First of all, the very rare instances where there are legitimate bad reactions to the vaccine are documented. A GP doctor would have access to the history on vaccine complications and would know what's going on. Secondly, people don't just go to a bunch of specialists unreferred to find out what's wrong. If specialists are seeing patients without some indication that their area of specialty is involved, that's malpractice, either on the part of the GP for referring the patient or on the part of the specialist for taking the patient without a referral.

Fair enough. I mean I trust the person who told me about their family situation but you make good points as well.

https://gizmodo.com/anti-vaccine-cartoonist-ben-garrison-says-hes-got-covid-1847749901

“We’re taking Ivermectin and various vitamins including a lot of Zinc,” Garrison continued, explaining what he’s doing to treat the disease. The cartoonist also notes he’s taking beet root juice. None of this has been proven to treat or prevent covid-19, with monoclonal antibodies and vaccines being the only real ways to fight this pandemic, which is still raging in many parts of the world.

...

“I would never go to a hospital with Covid. Robert David Steele did it a few weeks ago and they killed him. The hospitals get extra money for Covid death reports, which is necessary to keep fear ramped up,” Garrison claimed in an email to Gizmodo.

I agree Garrison is on the wrong side of this issue and it's too bad he's got Covid. Being unvaxxed, his symptoms might kill him. I don't think hospitals and doctors are killing Covid patients as he does.

I still contend radicals like the cartoonist got there through mistrust ... mistrust of Fauci, the media, the politicians. That's where we are at and there are hundreds of thousands of people who feel as this cartoonist does. My only point was it's not just him waking up one day being a nutjob. He got there because of ALL the noise surrounding Covid.

Let’s get all of these stories out in the open for consideration. More stories please. You said some peeps so there are likely more stories you have to share.

Well, I know people who have been vaxxed and have gotten Covid and their symptoms have not killed them or hospitalized them, but affected them. I mean, I don't want to list their names and contact info but it scares the heck out of me.

Yes I'm an entitled spoiled person but I don't even want the lesser symptoms like loss of taste, a cough that won't go away, no energy. My friend I talked to last night lives in Dallas and he's vaxxed but got Covid a month ago and is still coughing a ton. He's married with kids.

I was talking to one person who is vaxxed and got Covid and said it sucked. You saw Chris Rock's statement. Vaxxed and got covid and said you don't want to get it.

Imagine there's a giant routlette wheel with 999 black spaces and 1 red space. You can bet on either color, but even though the odds are very different, you win the same amount if you win your bet. However, if you lose your bet, the people closest to you also lose their bet even if they bet on the winning color.

Now imagine that they guy next to you tells you that he's betting on red because he knows someone who bet on black and lost. Except that he doesn't actually know someone who bet on black and lost, but he read a post shared by someone on Facebook that claimed that someone bet on black and lost, but nobody has actually verified that this happened.

The unvaccinated are the people betting on red, and people betting on something with odds that bad do not need nor deserve to have anyone being a voice for them or having empathy for them.

That's a great example. I enjoyed and endorsed your whole post until the last paragraph. The reason? I think they deserve to have people in their corner because there's still a lot of unknowns re. the vaccines. For instance, the unvaxxed believe getting vaxxed down the line will wreck our immune systems for the next variant. When scientists tell them that's bunk, they remain dug in because they don't trust the scientists. So it's a revolving door not caused by them but by the way covid has been handled. They are skeptics.

I totally agree with your roulette analogy. Another one that people should copy and paste and show the anti vaxxers.

Reports of death after COVID-19 vaccination are rare.

The skeptics would rather take the chance that their case of Covid won't be that bad if they get it than be one of those rare individuals who die after getting vaxxed. Not me. I'll take the odds that being vaxxed will prevent severe symptoms in my body when I get covid.

I'd be all for a re-do. Have daily town halls on TV where people calmly discuss the issue. I should be more intolerant of those who refuse to get vaxxed, but for some reason I'm much more angry at some politicians and Fauci and others than I am the anti vaxxers.

I wish the skeptics would, like me, get vaccinated anyway.100 percent vaccinated would probably end Covid instead of keeping it going. But I can't force the skeptics to get vacced.

I do wonder why you hear about a shortage of nurses and other hospital workers and folks in the armed forces who quit cause they didn't want to get vaxxed. Why are some medical workers refusing the jab? This is what the anti vaxxers ask.

So is there a new variant starting or not? Anthing to be concerned about?

True. Some just have 1500+ posts on a random baseball message board. Then continually claim they aren't really an anti-vaxxer but a "voice" for them. :jpshakehead:

I hope you believe I got both jabs. I did. If you had to define me I'm not anti vax, I'm just a disbeliever right now in pretty much everybody involved with the vaccine, from scientists (I like to know 100 percent where this virus came from and have not been satisfied), politicians (I won't get into that), media (selective coverage), talking heads on cable TV. I do trust my doctor. He told me to get vaxxed. I think my posts would make more sense if I went off about the people I truly distrust but that isn't going to get me anywhere but banned so I appear as a "voice" for the anti vax I guess cause I feel their pain. I understand their position and don't label them all nutjobs.

But when asked in real life I tell people I got two jabs with more on the way cause that's true. I do not go off about all my concerns. I think I've been a damn fine citizen, not only doing what I was asked to do but encouraging others to get vaxxed.  If I've vented on a message board to help myself stay sane thru Covid, thanks in advance for listening. I've always welcomed all opinions; some on here do NOT wanna hear mine, that's for sure. But there are options like ignoring my posts or blasting me in response. It's just a forum. I'm not hurting anybody in real life. As I said I encourage the vax when asked.

p.s. Howard Stern show today ran some clips of the two Alabama radio people who were loud anti vaxxers, recently got Covid and are now dead. They were rude and obnoxious and probably convinced some others to not get vaxxed and 'caused' those deaths too. That's despicable and also sad. They didn't want to die. They probably share my distrust of everybody, yet did not come to my conclusion: that the odds were best to get the jabs and hope to survive the darkest moment in our lives (Covid) to date.

You think if I could find 42 more stories like this (and I bet I can) it would scare the vaccine-hesitant into actually wanting to get the shot?

Wow. Thanks for sharing. Indeed it's frightening and sad and I feel for the guy. These stories people post once in a while are helpful as they remind the 'odds' lean to those who get vaxxed.

I don't think anybody on this board has refused to get vaxed because of me. If u are vaccine hesitant because of me, please pm me. I do not encourage that. I just personally have problems with various aspects of Covid as mentioned in my prior post. Thus I sympathize with the vax haters.

People putting themselves and others at risk because they trust what they're reading on Facebook over basic science and statistics don't deserve to have people in their corner. There are no possible "unknowns" with the vaccine that can be worse than not getting it. Every doomsday scenario that they are concocting is either not possible or wouldn't be as bad as not getting vaccinated. Having people in their corner gives them reinforcement to continue a dangerous behavior.

My biggest problem with covid is all of the people it kills and the long term health conditions is causes even in "mild" cases.  I am not quite sure why anything else should be that important compared to it.  Then again when all of your posts go against what you say are your own actions,  people aren't going to really believe you.

What do you mean by "new"?  There are all kinds of variants out there, even past Delta.

The state of Iowa website isn't the best, but the hospitalization data in terms of vaccination is illuminating.

There are 24 COVID patients hospitalized from ages 0-19. 0 are fully vaccinated.

There are 26 COVID patients hospitalized from ages 20-29. 2 are fully vaccinated.

There are 44 COVID patients hospitalized from ages 30-39. 2 are fully vaccinated.

There are 65 COVID patients hospitalized from ages 40-49. 3 are fully vaccinated.

There are 113 COVID patients hospitalized from ages 50-59. 15 are fully vaccinated.

There are 150 COVID patients hospitalized from ages 60-69. 29 are fully vaccinated.

There are 111 COVID patients hospitalized from ages 70-79. 42 are fully vaccinated.

There are 101 COVID patients hospitalized from ages 80+. 50 are fully vaccinated.

83% of those over 65 are fully vaccinated.

So, basically of the 159 people under the age of 50 that are hospitalized due to COVID, a whopping 9 are vaccinated. Of the 272 under the age of 60 that are in the hospital, 22 are vaccinated.

You can also look at the higher percentage of those vaccinated that are testing positive over 65 years of age - but also look at the lower numbers period of those in the hospital in a very high risk population.

The arguments for vaccine hesitancy are absolutely insane.  I don’t trust doctors, scientists, or the government, but I do trust Facebook, Fox News, or random alt-right website.  Some people who were vaccinated still got sick and died, so clearly the juice isn’t worth the squeeze.  I’m scared about the long-term affects of getting a vaccine, but I don’t care about the longer hauler risk from COVID let alone the immediate risk of death.  What a bunch of fucking bullshit and these people deserve zero sympathy from us at this point.

Also, for the love of god stop calling the vaccine “the jab”.  That’s the same term my wack-job right-wing cousins use to spread vaccine distrust as they cite articles from notoriously fake news sites.  There is nothing fucking cute about it and it proves you aren’t pro vaccine.

Some people are refusing the shots because they are probably about individual freedoms or they are anti vaccine. I don’t know that they don’t trust the science since many are students of science. There will be no redo. Town halls were attempted and tried, Biden could only say so much. Asa Hutchinson could only say so much. At a certain point carrots weren’t working and sticks needed to be tried. The idea that the vaccine hesitant or anti-vaccine would rather not get the vaccine and take their chances is a bunch of crap.

So you believe that all these people that are out there not wearing masks, spreading the virus everywhere, filling up our hospital ICUs, stressing our health care workers to the breaking point and essentially prolonging this pandemic waay past when it should have been over need to have a voice? Need to be "heard"? Need to have someone in their corner justifying their moronic ideas and actions?

I do believe they deserve a choice whether to be vaxxed or not for reasons I've expressed. Did you see Brad Beal's comments? He isn't vaxxed cause he got covid already. Sometimes you guys act like I'm the only one who has been vaxxed who shares this opinion. You don't ever listen to Clay Travis do you? Or Whitlock? They express rational feelings all the time.

ON BEAL

First brad beal said as quoted by washington post: "“Every player, every person in this world is going to make their own decision for themselves,” Beal said. “I would like an explanation to, you know, people with vaccines. Why are they still getting covid? If that’s something that we are supposed to highly be protected from, like it’s funny that it only reduces your chances of going to the hospital. It doesn’t eliminate anybody from getting covid, right? So is everybody in here vaxxed, I would assume? Right. So you all can still get covid, right?”

Chase Hughes of NBC Sports Washington responded: “We’re less likely to die or go to the hospital.”

Beal shrugged his left shoulder: “Okay, but, you can still get covid Right,” Beal said. “And you can still pass it along with the vax, right? So I’m just asking the question.”

But he was staunch in his belief that receiving a vaccine is his personal choice. That he has already contracted the disease, and missed out on winning a gold medal in Tokyo as a result, had no influence on his decision.

“My mom and dad are vaccinated. My older brothers are vaccinated. My sister-in-law is vaccinated. I know people that have people who are very close that are vaccinated just as well as I have people that are close to me, related to me, that are not,” Beal said. “So it’s a fine line. It’s a personal choice between everybody, 100 percent. I understand both sides of it. I understand that there is a percentage of people who can get very sick. I didn’t get sick; I didn’t get sick at all. I lost my smell. But that was it for me. Everybody is going to react different.”
