3 years/$55.5M (2020-22), plus 2023 option

  • 3 years/$55.5M (2020-22), plus 2023 club option
    • signed by Chicago White Sox as a free agent 12/30/19
    • 20-22:$18M annually, 23:$20M club option ($1.5M buyout)
    • 2023 option is guaranteed if Keuchel passes a physical at the end of the 2022 season and has 320 innings pitched in 2021-22 combined, including 160 IP in 2022
    • no-trade protection:
      • may block all trades through 10/31/20
      • from 11/1/20 to 10/31/21, may block trades to 10 clubs
      • from 11/1/21 to contract’s end, may block trades to five clubs

think it's a vesting option, that can't happen next year.  and as I said at the deadline it wouldn't have been the worst idea to trade him.

Let’s take games one game at a time. Not saying we will sweep the. Cubs and the Pirates. Tonight is going to be the worse night, as we have our worst starter on the bump.

You don't have to tell me lol, you're the one concerned about Cleveland catching us.  Kuechel pitching poorly has nothing to do with the next 4 games.  If Reylo can hold them with the Cubs pitching I haven't giving up on this one yet.

If they move him to the bullpen for at least a few weeks, he likely won't reach 320 for the two years even if he is a starter next season (here or elsewhere), They can bring up a starter to spot Reynaldo or someone else for a game or two, well worth the payroll flexibility in 2023, IMO.

Look up Quentin's stats .

Aside from the fact Quentin was always an outfielder and Vaughn was only ever envisioned as a 1B until Eloy got hurt? Or the fact Vaughn hasn't played above A-ball til this year? We've gotten more than we could have expected from him if you'd have asked five months ago

  • Thanks 1

Not to mention, but just having similar stats doesn’t mean you profile as the same player.  I liked Quentin for the hot minute he was here, but I don’t think of or see him when watching Vaughn.
