9/5- White Sox at Royals, 1:10

If Cease gives up a run today, the playoffs look like a fist round sweep, if the Sox even make it. He really needs to be Jacob Degrom for the Sox to have the slightest chance.Only a 10 1/2 game lead, which really is smaller since it is only 9 in the loss column. A 5 game series in Cleveland where there is no chance the Sox win a game. With Gio hurt, Rodon limited, Lynn with a bad knee, Kuechel really bad, Cease is all the Sox really have. They have gone backwards since 2020. Time to back the truck up. What a dreadful season.

It would be solid to pick up a win today I know last month had two weeks of very tough teams but the upcoming two weeks seem tougher with 14 games in a row on the road and only 5 home games left and those are against playoff teams.Games like today mean something. I am not saying the Sox will lose first place by any means. It’s just tough to play 17 out of 22 on the road In september. Let’s get a win!

Dick - I think you need to take something. What is a fist round sweep? You are right, though. 9 in the loss column is nothing.

Sox really have no chance to win a playoff game, especially if Cease shows the Royals can score a run off him. Like he is just supposed to turn it on for the playoffs. I hope no one was fooled by this awful franchise into believing they could actually win games, and gave them their hard earned money to watch them. Kimbrel got the win last night, but as Ray Ray knows, it was the Royals who bailed him out striking out 3 times in an inning. Did you see the professional AB by Lopez with the single into left on the Kimbrel meatball?

I know this is all hyperbole, but the Sox need to be both healthy and in good form come October. Hoping the four primary IL players (Lucas, Lynn, Tim and Engel) return and can play as they are capable when healthy.

Good reports from Lucas last week, Tim should be fine with his few weeks of rest. Lynn's knee has been a concern for a while now, and Adam hasn't been right beyond a brief stretch all season. He is by far the best RF option if healthy based on his turnaround at the plate.

Also concerned with Kopech at this point, he was a major contributor in the first half and can be in the playoffs if he rights the ship. Kimbrel helps in this regard, and Crochet is also pitching well, so they still have quality bullpen depth. Keuchel may be a blessing if his reduced innings lowers the probability he vests. Still see him starting next year unless they resign Carlos or grab 1-2 starters, Kopech can't be pushed much beyond a few months based on his low innings count this season, and Crochet doesn't look like he will convert next season.

The LAA series is at home, so it's "only" 11 in a row on the road . The remaining September schedule is: @KC, 3@OAK, 3BOS, 3LAA, 3@TEX, 3@DET, 5@CLE, 2CIN. That's 8H/14R remaining in September after today.

With the final three at home vs. DET, that makes the remaining schedule 11H/14R with 17 games against non-playoff teams and 5 of the 8 against playoff teams at home. Not too bad.

He's absolutely spot on.

This team is a fookin nightmare going somewhere to happen.

Trade everybody for good players.

Cut anybody you can't trade and replace them with good players.

Fire everybody you can't trade or cut and get people who actually know something about baseball.

Aaaaaarrrrrguh.
