Letting him go for nothing would be a mistake. Pick up the option, hope you can trade him, if not you still have a solid albeit expensive 8th inning guy.

No chance the MLBPA signs off on a 180 soft cap.

And that DK contract is going to be the anchor in the offseason, maybe we find someone for Kimbrel as well.

Yeah, and this was the good part. The bad part is the 5 years of watching Heuer and Madrigal play for the Cubs. Hahn’s track record of trading for veterans is abysmal. He has made some of the worst value trades in MLB history.
