That's too bad. I understand why they are doing it but to watch an MLB game in the atmosphere and environment was truly a great experience. Not to mention my wife and I went there on our honeymoon and met people and actually took turns hitting on the diamond even before the MLB park was there.

Now I can sound really old for another reason,  "I remember when this was just a ball diamond in the middle of nowhere."

I played there as well with some strangers while passing through Dyersville about 20 years ago while my wife sat on the bench with our infant son wearing his White Sox bucket hat.   It is a fun little memory.  I think I did a Leury special and grounded out weakly.

I live less than an hour and work about 20 minutes from the FOD. Many years ago, a group of us were road drinking (I know, I know…we were barely out of college and we’re all Wisconsinites, it’s in our blood).  We decided to go to the FODs.  One of the girls had to go, so she peed in third base.

Did you make sure to pull it to second base to make it easier to record the out?  Leury would have 20-25 extra infield singles per year with as much as he puts the ball on the ground…I remember the Porta Potties and buying souvenirs from that shack/trailer.

No, I think I did the Konerko hang my head thing and did a token jog towards 1st Base.

I think I bought a magnet for my fridge.

I hit one into the cornfield but it was April so there was no corn. Seemed less dramatic hitting into a mud field.

And I had to go get it.

I aint getting it...you hit it...you go get it.

A little less dramatic than Timmy's shot last year but a nice memory nonetheless I am sure.
