Those two “years” were comprised of 36 total innings and he actually was very good in the 2nd half of 2020.  There was zero reason to expect him to regress when he literally put up a 100th percentile xwOBA prior to the acquisition and was probably reliever in baseball with a HoF track record.  I agree Hahn overpaid, but can’t fault him for Kimbrel’s absolute collapse since coming over here.

Other than Cincy, not many potent offenses in the NL Central.

Now Leury just got himself another $1-2 million for 2022, haha.

Took him out mid AB and then put in a guy who only threw fastballs to Leury. Leury can hit fastballs he can't hit breaking pitches.

I had 5 minutes where in 3 straight posts I said "Leury's going to make this a 6-5 game" followed by "This is a move that is so bad it deserves to backfire on Baker" and then exactly that happened. I'm rather proud of my work in this game thread.

I wanted him swinging out of his ass

Agree to disagree. He was in a no pressure situation earlier this year and in the offseason the Cubs would have given him away cheap.

I wish I was wrong about it and still hope that he can find his groove for 10 more innings or so.

Sox/Cubs trades seem to be one sided.  Sosa, Garland, Quintana, Kimbrel trades all were one sided.  Probably others, too.

How was closing for the Cubs the first three months when they were in contention a no pressure situation?
