Bob Sacamano
7 years $140 mill confirmed. Could have been a lot worse. I expected about $25 mill a year. edit: nevermind, it says expected to be for so not confirmed yet. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/11/tigers-sign-javier-baez.html Edited November 30, 2021 by Bob Sacamano

EloyJenkins
his demands of 200 mil sure fell flat. But the value on this contract is pretty solid tbh. Let's hope his high K rates get even worse...because the Tigers are going to be a thorn in the window's side with their moves and young pitching. But none of those guys were expected to keep their legs under them and play up to the defensive demands of shortstop. Sure, Baez can move to 2B in a few years if they replace him with a younger SS, but you still can't rely on burying his aging legs at DH when he will never be the hitter Pujols or Miggy are/were. If $140M isn’t yet confirmed I still have hope.

wegner
It was a 6 year deal when I checked in here at home. I get to the office and it is a 7 year deal. I'll be back at lunch for the details on the 9 year deal.

Compare Baez to 3 HOF's, 2 of which are generational talents? Why?
turnin' two
Just now, TaylorStSox said: Compare Baez to 3 HOF's, 2 of which are generational talents? Why? Because he one time ran backwards, and the Pirtates don't know how to play baseball, so he's the best ever at that.

Probably referring to the amount of money those guys were owed when they were older than Baez will be at the end of this contract. However, talent-wise there's no comparison. iWiN4PreP
Hmm let's see... if Javier Baez goes 6/140, can we get Trevor Story for 6/140? how about 7/160?
Look at Ray Ray Run
Wanted absolutely nothing to do with Javy Baez so am happy the Tigers signed him. Think he's a flawed player who will age very very poorly due to those flaws. He is the type of player who once he loses an inkling of bat speed will lose his entire offensive game. Don't think going to Comerica is that big of a deal, but I just don't think his offense ages well at all.
southsideirish71
One thing that I have seen this offseason. Lots of long-term deals are being signed here. This is going to put the sox into a very uncomfortable position. I don't know if they have the appetite for these longer-term deals beyond 4 years. I'm just glad it's the most flawed one they chose.

ThatBallHitDeep_WAYBack
The @MLB instagram account shoving his routine plays with a lot of pastry down people’s throats helped give Baez a lot more $ than he deserves.
