Leary is a good signing. Versatility is key here and we know he can play everywhere on the diamond

Can pretty much guarantee Leury is the Opening Day Shortstop for the Chicago White Sox. His legend will grow.

(Tim has to serve a 2-3 game suspension for bumping the umpire the final week).

Tim Anderson = Wally Pipp.....hey these things happen....I feel bad for him but I doubt he will get the job back after Leury's hot start.

But it isn't chump change for THIS big league team.

Or have you forgotten when they folded like a cheap suit with Machado but were willing to spend money to bring in his friends?

Point is, a franchise this cheap needs to conserve every dollar for maximum impact, especially when they've underestimated the market already.

I'm waiting patiently for multiple left handed savages and no Leury ain't one of them. Neither is Segura.

Ahh yes.  Comping Leury to Machado is valid here.

The offseason just started.  And you aren't getting multiple "left handed savages".  Hopefully you'll get one.  The lineup with Conforto and Segura is easily top 3 in the league, very possibly #1.

It is amazing to me that the guy we got for Alex Rios is going to be with the organization for another 3 years....that trade feels so damn long ago.

People won't want to hear it but Leury is a pretty good hitting development story for the sox. He was horrendous offensively when we first got him. He likely just needed playing time, but 2017 he really established that he wouldn't be an issue offensively. Hell his first 155 at bats he had a wRC+ of...4

He was never going to leave nor should he.  Hopefully he is a the uber utility guy and a real RF and 2B are brought in.

Just sign him and Abreu to a couple of Bobby Bonilla contracts....they aren't going anywhere anyways might as well spread the payments out.  I look forward to seeing both of them at Soxfest 2035.

Engel really improved as well over the past two seasons. Hope he can stay healthy next year.

“Sign or acquire a great DH and a great right fielder, put Andrew Vaughn there at second base. I’m serious.”

?

  1. Anderson SS
  2. Robert CF
  3. Schwarber DH
  4. Abreu 1B
  5. Grandal C
  6. Eloy LF
  7. Moncada 3B
  8. Vaughn 2B
  9. Conforto RF

Defense is laughable, but that lineup would MASH. ?

Yep...wasn't it like 3 years that it looked like we really got nothing from that Rios trade?....I was glad to see Rios gone so whatever but Leury really developed into much more than he seemed like when he first came over.

yeah Engel is probably a better story, the leury thing is just a holdover from 2018 when none of our hitters really started to show up.

Engel is one of the more bizarre stories in the whole league. Athleticism is good.

Leury is actually a good defender and provides switch hitting.  Romy provides neither.  This was such a no-brainer re-signing - no idea why half of you are up in arms.

Here's the thing.  If Leury gives us what he gave us last year, he is worth the dollars as an insurance policy who can give us two weeks at a position if injuries happen, and days off if they don't.  If Leury gets hurt, or bombs this deal, this the type of deal that doesn't hurt a team, and the team still has Romy around to plug in if Leury fails somehow.  If we let Leury walk without replacing him, we are down to only Leury and Danny Mendick in this role, and that just seems like a really large risk to take.

Why spend a lot of money on a good player when you can sign an inexpensive mediocrity like Garcia?

Nick Madrigal @ 500k > Leury Garcia @ 5 million > Chris Taylor @ 14 million

Can’t leave Nicky out even though it isn’t relevant
