Springfield Soxfan
I saw a tweet today Sox are signing some Dominican outfielder for seven figures. Can International signings still happen with lock out or are they delayed?

hi8is
Best news we’ve had since the lockout… even though it’s been expected for some time. Scouting grades: Hit: 60 | Power: 55 | Run: 50 | Arm: 50 | Field: 50 | Overall: 55 Hernandez’s biggest comp is a lofty one: Juan Soto. Hernandez, like Soto, is a solid hitter as a teen and could hit the ball hard to all fields. Hernandez has a very advanced approach at the plate and has shown the ability to adjust. He also displayed the ability to handle himself against right-handed and left-handed pitching, which is rare for a prospect his age. Physically, he’s lean and athletic with lots of room to grow and add strength. On defense, he can play all three outfield positions and has the power to play the corners. He has also been praised for his makeup and positive attitude. Hernandez trains with Jaime Ramos, a member of MLB’s Trainer Partnership Program, at the Jaime Ramos Baseball Academy. The White Sox are the favorite to sign him. Edited December 13, 2021 by hi8is

He told me Elijah is a natural, one day he decided to pick up baseball and did, he has better tools than Tatis Jr. While Fernando works harder to get better, Elijah plays better at this age than Jr did." How could he be their highest upside teenager in half a decade if almost nobody believes that he (Tatis, Jr.) was much of anything back in 2015 due to his paltry signing bonus? Or it's simply saying we have hardly signed ANY teenagers during that time...for whatever reason (although it has been long speculated about around here.)

Minor league international signings including the signing day and scheduled start of a new minor league signing period in January are unaffected. They can continue as planned. Major league international signings such as the posting of the OF Suzuki from Japan are on hold until the lockout ends. 1

Tatis got $700K According to Jeff Passan (wouldn't shock me if you also know details on this as well), the Sox were 1 day away from signing both Tatis and Juan Soto Quote "Among his teammates: Fernando Tatis Jr., whom the Chicago White Sox would get for $825,000. The White Sox were pursuing Soto as well, willing to give him a $1.4 million signing bonus, and he believed he was likely to agree with them until Oct. 22, the final day of the tournament. DiPuglia and Deric Ladnier, a high-ranking Nationals scout, asked Niche for a private hitting session with Soto in a batting cage at Fort Lauderdale Stadium. If that's a serious question then yes especially one with his tools that @hi8is was so gracious to supply. He'll get all the time he needs to put those tools to good use and make adjustments accordingly. Plus he will continue to play baseball on a regular basis and adjust to the states at a young age unlike guys like Cespedes , Yolbert Sanchez and Colas.
