There’s no star available in RF.  Suzuki has even more questions surrounding him…than Conforto…and that’s despite Ohtani now being the universally-acknowledged second massive impact Japanese position player after Ichiro (some would also argue Hideki Matsui, but he wasn’t nearly the athlete.)

Who says no? #WhiteSox receive: LHP Sean Manaea, C Austin Allen #Athletics receive: 1B/RF Gavin Sheets, SS Jose Rodriguez, RHP Kade McClure
#WhiteSox say no
#Athletics say no
Both say no

Everyone wants Manea... but if their selling the house, give me frankie montas in a heart beat. Guy is a Cy young caliber pitcher. Go for the throat!

hmm.  I place very little value on Sheets, but a decent amout on Rodriguez.  I still think I'd do it.

Olson is younger, but to give up all that prospect capital when you could have just re-signed the leader of your recent World Series team is weird to say the least.

Just doesn’t make any sense, unless they’re expecting a massive drop-off soon…just like the White Sox with Rodon, you usually give the benefit of the doubt to the team letting that player go.  (For example, Goldschmidt in AZ another similar name that comes to mind, nobody was/is in the Pujols category when he left St. Louis with that massive deal.)

I'm not sure how one could compare Carlos Rodon to Freddie Freeman but by god, you've done it!

MLB owners are cheap bastards.

That’s what happens when a corporation gets involved in the decision-making process…although it’s still shocking in this era of prospect overvaluing to see that much talent go out the door.  Perhaps their difficult to repeat success rearranging an entire outfield on the fly is going to their heads.

They’re both head-scratchers without having access to inside information from the Braves and White Sox.  That said, they’re not tremendously far apart in value despite Rodon having only two solid seasons and Freeman being nearly on a HoF path.

Everyone knows Rodon has the talent/potential to be one of the 3-5 best pitchers in baseball.

Freeman has been one of the 3-5 best NL players, period, so there has to be something that everyone is missing because it makes almost no sense on the surface.

unless the braves have a wizard in their front office, there's no way of telling when freddie freeman is going to stop being freddie freeman. certainly not any signs of that yet.

Olson was actually better than Freeman last year, and he's in his prime. This is a good deal for the Braves, assuming Olson keeps it up. That's a lot of prospect capital to give up when Freeman only cost money, though.

Bummer - I was quietly hoping the Sox were in play for Freeman, and that they would advance their trailblazing effort to build a contender comprised solely of first basemen and relief pitchers.

If you're the Padres, how do you let this man ride his motorcycle and get into accidents when you have 300 million $ invested into him?

Shades of Aaron Rowand…minus being one of the faces of MLB at the time.  Hard to say he’ll even learn eventually, it’s just the way some top athletes are programmed, to push themselves to the limits in every aspect of life, like Michael Jordan with his golfing and especially gambling.  Obviously different types of risk there.

Lol just drop all starters and go with a 13-man bullpen, built with a couple of long relievers.

Who’s to say they don’t…losing one GM and seemingly not even missing a beat despite what happened to their pitching staff, Ozuna and Acuna, Jr., last year.
