Let me get out ahead of Sox Talk on the FA efforts by the Sox:

Oh great, I went from worrying about no baseball to worrying the Sox will make half-assed moves.

Oh there is going to be a meltdown of epic proportions if Conforto goes off the board quickly

And/or not being able to dump Kimbrel is the reason for diminished financial flexibility.

We shall see if the Balta Ray Ray chorus is proven wrong soon enough.

I will join.  I'm worried we prefer Castellanos over him, and Conforto signs first, and then someone outbids us for Castellanos

I'm bracing for Joc Pederson. Rick Hahn can't hurt me if I'm already expecting the worst.

If that happens, I think we’ll make a push for Castellanos or Bryant.

The only problem is that those guys might cost more. Especially Bryant. Cause he actually plays defense and can play anywhere on the field.

Time for JR to go all Albert Belle and snag Bryant for a new Sox record contract.  Screw it, he can't take his cash with him and that's a real all in move.

They have enough money under the tax to win a bidding war for Conforto right now. The new CBA was flexible enough on that.

They still need a SP so they can stick Keuchel in the pen.

I told everyone that was a bad signing, covid season notwithstanding.

When do I get my award for correctly predicting that Keuchel would turn into a pumpkin last spring?

If they would commit to doing that and have him around as a 6th starter, I would totally be cool with them adding another legit SP.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but money not being part of the discussion, I prefer Conforto over Kris Bryant. Not that we'll get either.

I think Conforto will get less than Bryant so you can factor that in too. I also think Conforto is a better fit.

Will be excited if they sign Bryant or Castellanos though lol
