wow what a SHITTY return for bassit

a) wtf are the A's thinking?

b) why didn't the white sox beat that so Bassit could be our 5th starter lmao. i'd trade for bassit AND go after a better SP if i was GM at that price

... this is coming from someone who originally wanted no part of bassit as i think hes boring and not too good

Well at least I was right that that were going to give up some prospects in a trade. But they added another $9M to their payroll so as of now I'm not seeing where exactly they are planning to shed salary in the position players. They must really think they can move McCann but I'd love to get Nimmo for a year.

Doubtful. The Sox don't have the pitching prospects.

If you find someone who likes Vera, him being a Ginn equivalent isn't crazy. Would people on here have been okay with Vera and Lambert for 1 year of Bassit?

But maybe I'm overrating the Sox guys here. I think it would have been workable, but making trades for good players is (obviously) a lot harder when you have the worst farm system in baseball.

The Mets have a lot of good prospects. I think the question is would Oakland be OK with Vera and Lambert? But damn the Sox are dead last in farm systems because of the lack of pitching prospects and any depth among all prospects which is why I wanted prospects and some young MLB talent from the Mets in exchange for the Cano contract because they supposedly wanted to dump some salary and get pitching . Bassitt is an improvement over my idea of Keuchel but it only increases their payroll. Maybe I just overestimated their desire to shed salary based on the reports of it. Cohen might not care about the CBT as much as I thought.

Vera is much more valuable to the White Sox at this point.  He's the one pitcher I would be quite reluctant to trade, with how much older our team has already gotten the last twelve months.

It seems like the Sox will acquire another SP, hopefully it's a good one. If that happens, I think Vera or Jose Rodriguez will have to be involved in the deal. I don't think any of the  Kanny pitchers performed well enough to hold much value at this point.

Unless, of course, they deal from the major league roster again. Which is certainly possible.

I'd actually like to give some of Marco Paddy's signings a chance to do something. Isn't that why the Sox hired him ? Instead we ended up trading He Who Should Always be Named and trading away Intl money on a regular basis and signing older guys instead of 16 and 17 yrs olds like everyone else does.. Yay Hahn and JR.

That sounds eerily reminiscent of an ill-fated 2016 trade.  The only difference is we're expected to at least advance out of the divisional round this time...as opposed to a 3-5% shot at the post-season.

Sorry to hear that.

I was hoping Reinsdorf would try to right a wrong by resigning him.

But again they would have to admit it was a mistake in the first place to let him go which they're not doing.
