Never understood why no one has tried this guy as a RP. Maybe Sox will give him some run there.

This should be a minor league deal.

Completely agree. I think he'd thrive too in s bullpen role.

But if he does start/long relief I hope he is glued to Lance Lynn like a sponge.

Thanks, Ray.  Decent depth move I guess then?

He's been terrible as a starter for some time; his stuff has always appeared much better than his production. I'd be surprised if the Sox let him start. Converting him to a RP might be a relatively savvy move. His injury history isn't good so who knows if he would hold up, but as a two pitch guy out of the pen (Fastball/CB or Slider) he might be able to get his velocity back up to 96+ as opposed to 93 that he was sitting as a starter last year.

Honestly I'd rather run with Lopez as a spot guy over him, but I think Velasquez would have a better chance of turning himself into a viable reliever given his pitch repertoire.

Just sign Conforto. I knew they were never going to invest significantly in a 6th SP. This definitely wouldn’t have been the insurance policy I selected, but oh well. Keuchel is and was always going to make 20 some starts whether you guys like it or not.
