southsider2k5
He is firing his agent and hiring Scott Boras. He is looking for 3 years in the $7-$8 mil per year range.
marsh
meh, i'd rather have derek lee than castillo.
SuperSteve
I'd rather have Beckett, Lee, Cabrera, Pierre, and Urbina. Castillo shouldn't get that type of money. I'd be surprised if he did, Yanks maybe. He'd be a great fit there. Leadoff hitter where Soriano could move down.

The_Godfather
When I was looking over our beloved Sox this past year the one thing that we never really had was a true slap the ball around leadoff guy. With castillo being a free agent and knowing that were going to have a hole to fill at second I think going after him would be one of the best moves we could make this offseason. I'm not 100% sure about this but I think we lead the league in hitting into double plays which shows that we need to get more speed and put some pressure on the other teams D for a change instead of allowing them to sit back and wait for the double play balll like they did all last year that was the main reason for so many rallies getting killed cause all we have are big slow guys who all try and hit the ball a mile. Having a guy like catillo would make this team atleast 10 wins better dont forget this kid also know how to throw the leather around as well. He would make the offseason a success on his own if he signed with us IMHO.

Castill looked as bad as i've ever seen anyone look last night, but that was an abberration. This guy is a very good contact hitter who doesnt strike out much. And the speed, OBP, everything would be great. Castillo would be an amazing signing, imo

That is never remotely had. Anyone we led off did not fit that bill.
kane0730
I'd be happy with Todd Walker at a much cheaper cost. Would be a perfect number 2 hitter.
whitesoxfan99
Mabye because its been agianst playoff teams, and most have good catchers, but Castillio has been thrown out stealing quite a bit. Mabye it has just been a few, but thats just what it seems like. Yes, he is an upgrade from Robbie and anyone the Sox have now, but like He got thrown out a lot all year as he only had 21 SB to 19 CS but he did have a hip injury that he was playing with. SuperSteve
Is Walker a FA, I haven't heard he is. My bad, he is a FA. He certainly upped his price with his performance in the playoffs. Problem though, who would lead off?
Chisoxfn
I would not pay Castillo huge bucks. I'd try to look around and see some cheaper playes that look like they could fit the bill. Don't know what peoples thoughts are on Lofton, but the guy at 34 still can play.

Don't know what peoples thoughts are on Lofton, but the guy at 34 still can play. I wouldn't mind Lofton, assuming he did not f*** around and suck ass as much as he did in 02. I would not want to go through what we had to with him again. May, June, and July, he was the s***tiest player on the face of the planet....maybe 2nd s***tiest, depending upon how you look at Choice Klayton. If he did that, I would be pretty pissed if we didn't sign/have a good backup option. I wouldn't mind taking a shot on him though, assuming he didn't cost a whole lot. Castillo has a rock solid glove, great speed, does all the little things right, and is the true leadoff hitter that we lack. I cant necessarily see us signing him, but he's tops on my priority list. I agree he would fit real well in our lineup. I just don't think he's worth that kind of money.
DBAHO
If he learns how to hit a splitter, maybe he can play with us.
