No the 4 year isn't crazy. It would be a consideration, if that is truly the length. However, the Sox can't afford to wait around forever when they had other needs as well.

We surely created this "waiting around forever" as a result of this in limbo situation due to Kimbrel.  What is it that Hawk always said, self induced?

Last decade, it was Danks' contract/ineffectiveness blocking a lot of moves that was the excuse.

You always go after your big needs first, starting pitchers, RF and 2B.

There will always be relief pitchers, especially in this version of the sport with guys struggling to go five innings.

I think the White Sox strategy is they think they are good enough now to be in a great position I July, so they can add then and pay the addition for 1/3 of the season.

Great strategy to trade pieces from the 30th ranked farm instead of simply spending money.

No, i think Conforto’s agent created the waiting around forever scenario to find the best contract.

As badly as they misplayed that one, we are talking 4 years here and not 8 to 10. And they don’t even want to go 4 with an out after 2.  Does not compute to me.

If he wants 4/90 and that is so reasonable  why the hold up ? The reason might be that there are plenty of 3 year offers or maybe even a few for 4 but for $60-70M. It could be he's just trying to get as close to that original Mets offer of $100M as possible. He knows if he bets on himself again and loses  2 years in a row of bad play will fuck over his paycheck even more than the 1 bad year did.

We kept being told that GM's don't react to one bad year like fans do . Apparently they do or he would be signed already. Boras is just going to wait it out and hope someone gets desperate enough to give Conforto what he's seeking.

Or anyone else from anywhere else. I just want him gone. Gavin Lux?

Lux is far more realistic than Bellinger assuming we throw in something else besides Kimbrel or give them some money. LA really doesn't have a lot of reliever options out there in free agency. Maybe they're fine with just Treinen as their closer, but I find it hard to believe they'd spend all that money on Freeman and have a bullpen that leaks.
