BigHurt3515
I might not be up to date with the rules but if Micker clears waivers he can go to Charlotte or did we pretty much release him

At any point during that 7 days he can be placed on irrevocable waivers. But if he gets put on irrevocable waivers and is claimed (highly likely he will get claimed), he's gone for nothing. If he happens to clear, he can be sent to Charlotte. Sox will probably wait until Sunday/Monday to see if anyone offers something up and if not, then try to get him thru waivers if they don't get any offers. But he'll get claimed, likely by the O's, the team with the first dibs. Only positive to that, is that if any of the other 28 clubs want him, they pretty much have to trade for him. he gone.
he's out of options so i believe another team will have to keep him up too or he'll be exposed to waivers, no? have a feeling he's likely to bounce around 2-3 teams this year and wouldn't be surprised to see him back in the Sox organization in a year or two. For instance a team like the Nats might be itnerested in him. They're pretty thin in the OF corners after Soto. They just DFA'd some cat named Gabe Klobosits yesterday. 6'8' righty with great numbers in AA/AAA last season, but hot hit around in a small cup of coffee. He still has 2 options and could be a fit in a Micker trade. Sox may value the open 40 man spot more than him, but a trade like that would make some sense. Hate to see so much of our second tier of prospects give us nothing. It's also just not that. For Morosi to tweet about a nobody you would think it had some legs to it. Since he was DFA'd that extends the time to complete a deal for another 10 days right ? I think something gets done in that time.

CaliSoxFanViaSWside
There a nearly 26 RH reliever that made the Orioles 28 named Cionel Perez who is out of options. He made the 28 with a decent spring and pitched with the O's last year badly. He is Cuban. Couldn't hurt to inquire about him.

They get first dibs.

For sure. Just seems unlikely. They’d basically be negotiating against themselves.

If any team including the O's can see the light at the end of the Adolfo tunnel as a big power hitting , decent fielding OF, an out of options reliever would be a small price to pay for a potential impact player.

Texsox
But remember the claiming team must put him on their MLB roster. He's likely to bounce around a little bit this year.
zisk
there are lots of guys with less talent who stay in the majors for 5-10 years. I hope he stays healthy and rakes. must admit I want him to prosper even if another team.
michelangelosmonkey
What happens if we DFA him and he passes through wavers and we resign him. Then he starts smoking the ball in Charlotte...can another team then claim him to their MLB roster...or is he ours for the year?

Barely a 1% chance he makes it past the first team on the list. People need to stop asking what ifs beyond that.
