Sounds like its a fairly mild one but no telling for sure. Even a mild one is probably missing a start. There is no shortage of doom and gloom injury experts. CaliSoxFanViaSWside
And everyone was worried about Rodon getting injured . Mr. Play-It-Safe was afraid to fly He packed his suitcase and kissed his kids goodbye He waited his whole damn life to take that flight And as the plane crashed down He thought, "Well, isn't this nice?" And isn't it ironic? Don't you think?

The transverse abdominus is more of a slow twitch postural muscle as its fibers go straight side to side Injuries typically happen to the internal or external oblique that are more the fast twitch power muscle for flexion and rotation. Except that Lynn is gone for 2 months and Crochet for the whole year while we still don't know about Gio . Kelly for how long ? So far I haven't seen anything for a few starts or even a week. When you are afraid to make moves, then play it safe moves , cheap moves like stocking up the BP it comes back to bite you in the ass. In general, we keep playing on the margins and are scared to death of big moves like Suzuki, Conforto and extending Gio without the club working in an advantageous clause whereas other teams are more flexible just to get the player in a uniform. And before Robertson, we went fifteen years without overpaying closers, other than Koch for one year. Yet very little to show for 3-4 years of targeting big arms in the draft mostly for the pen. It's fitting whatever moves they make under the CBT and to field a well rounded team. I agree they should have improved the rotation. But its not afraid to sign Rodon with his injury history, it's a cascaded decision based on the amount of money to pay him and the possibility of injury

The Big 3 trades were a foregone conclusion...resulting from the front office being unable to patchwork a team together around stars and scrubs with a mid tier payroll from 2012-2016. The counter argument of course is the 2005 approach spreading the money across the roster and Dunn, Danks (injury/ineffectiveness on a $65 million deal) and then that Robertson/LaRoche/Cabrera/Shark cycle leading to oblivion. Basically, too many big contracts without matching production sink the team. Edited April 9, 2022 by caulfield12

Starting pitchers were readily available all off season. They had plenty of CBT space when the off season started. The biggest loss of the off season was losing Rodon's production therefore it should be the 1st guy you replace and that doesn't mean with Kopech. They were afraid to trade for anyone too since they keep getting burned when giving up youngsters. I don't know if they are just hanging onto guys who haven't established the type of value they think they will eventually be worth , or if they are trying to keep the window open longer, or if nobody wants our prospects or other teams just keep asking for guys from the 26 . Manaea seemed obtainable but by that time they weren't willing to add another $10M.
