Eh the string of 7 hits was still something to behold. Only a couple of those could have been outs with defenders moved around.

...and you think this is outside of his normal sucktitude?

Point is, he has a 50/50 chance to keep us in the game if our bats are alive and if our defense doesn't shit the bed.

Our defense shat the bed and went to a god damn toga party in the sheets. He sucked his normal self, but the 5 extra runs are on the defense.

Problem is this team still need pitching.  He's safe....for now.

Yeah I’m just hoping Gio will be fine, Cueto can help, and a rental SP is traded for in June/July (if not sooner).

Edit: and hopefully Lynn comes back fine.

I know everyone wants to blame Dallas, but you essentially had 6 errors behind him and 3 outs.  Kind of hard to pitch over that, or even keep your head in the game at that point.

I don’t want to excuse the defense either but there was still a string of 7 straight hits between errors 4 and 5. One or two were ground balls through the defense, but lots were hard hit.

Im ok with blaming everyone, just don’t excuse Dallas either.

Yes, 7 straight hits is unusual even for him.

Actually 8 straight hits, they just turned Abreu’s error into a hit.

I think Banks could easily perform better as a starter.

I don't disagree at all.  Still don't think they're going to punt Dallas until mid summer with how thin the SP is currently and Kopech needing management.

And yet the pathetic offense will get overlooked. The disasterous offseason is the gift that keeps on giving.

I've been watching.

This game should call for the manager to loudly proclaim the team to be full of "lollygaggers" in the shower after the game.

I'm for it.

I think he gets another 3 starts or so to prove he can still get hitters out.

Yes the defense was beyond awful but anyone can see that DK has nothing left. And it isn't just this performance we all knew he was finished way before this. Sox need to stop thinking he is somehow going to come around and keep starting him. I understand they owe him a crap load of money yet and don't want to just eat that but stick him in the bullpen then.

Keuchel actually threw pretty well in the first inning. I think the errors clearly got to him as he kept leaving pitches up in the 2nd inning. Whether we like it or not, Keuchel will continue to get starts until Lynn comes back in June.

Feels safe to say....you can enjoy the next 2 hours without baseball, if you so desire. But later on, you get to see Lambert on the mound!

I know this team has had injuries, but I said it on Opening Day when the Sox tweeted out the roster.

Far too many names on that list that just are not very good at baseball and they populate a roster that is supposed to have World Series hopes.

Alex, what is a non sequitur?

Why would any sane person continue watching?

For the last two years, we've heard how often how our brilliant front office almost acquired Burnes...who just happens to be the best pitcher in baseball with deGrom out.

Heck, we could have had another Top Ten guy in Rodon...who was our own product.

Hahn simply sucks compared to the Indians' and Brewers' front offices.

This.  Keeping concentration and focus over that has to be nearly impossible.

He doesn’t fit any need for the starting rotation other than being a warm body throwing a baseball. There are other options within the organization who can fill the role, and likely without any of the locker room nonsense I’m sure Cuckel brings. He’s done. We know it, his teammate sure as hell know it. That defensive performance was the equivalent of giving up on your pitcher.

So, you're saying it is a perfect game for DK: he gets to blame everyone else, as he is oft to do regardless. Except, in all actuality, he was just as ass today, if not ass-ier.

This would be an excellent time to forfeit and regroup with a second game on the Lake Erie Horizon (not my call though).

If they're going to continue with 9 inning DH, I think the team that is behind ought to have the option to concede after 7.

That's about the only silver lining to this game. Keuchel might suck, but we gotta hope he doesn't completely suck for another 6 starts.
