Eloy is already out of shape. Not being able to run probably won't help that. It's another lost ,season for him, even if this injury isn't season ending.

Eloy needed to be healthy and play regular if he was going to continue his development. And, obviously, the Sox needed a productive Eloy if the team was going to truly contend this year. This is just bad news for the team and Eloy. You might be right. This could be a lost season for him. Just like Kopech lost a season to Tommy John surgery. It is tough for a rebuild to work when young players miss this much time.

Then sat out a season...so two full years.

He literally hurt himself running in a straight line.  God forbid he has to move laterally using whatever fast twitch muscles are left in his legs.

This was all probably due to the criticism he received yesterday for not running out the grounder. I’ll show them!

To be fair this team as a whole has had more injuries running to 1B than i can remember in the past.

Robert x2

Eloy

Pollock

Madrigal last year

Leury couple years ago.

Crazy it’s never ending…

This is heartbreaking. Eloy, Robert and so many of our guys who get hurt a lot obviously love the game of baseball. They hustle so hard and get hurt all the time. Just read on Twitter Eloy was crying and Sox players who saw him immediately started crying. I won't say anything dumb about how these guys get hurt all the time, but some of these physical specimins just seem to have body parts that can't handle the sudden movements required in baseball. So sad for Eloy.

All the Sox as a team can do is have next man up philosophy moving forward as the team has injury after injury,.

3 months for Vaughn to create absolute havoc out there. Eloy better come to terms with the fact that he is a DH from now on.

Lol, they better hope he can be a major leaguer at this point. He’s going to miss so much time over the last 2.5 years, his career is 100% at a crossroads

If Sox wanted to demonstrate a commitment to this season and fanbase, it wouldn't be the worst thing to reengage with Boras about Comforto.

They just had an update on Conforto...he is most likely out for the year and cant currently throw. Injury was much more serious than Boras shared...hence why sox never engaged on him

Wow. Hadn't heard that. Thanks for the update.

Winning was never and will never be the first priority of this front office, it will always be to increase shareholders profits

if you want to see real changes, you gotta stop going to games

Based on the frequency and nature of his past injuries, this is not bad luck.  He's about as graceful as a Great Dane.

True about not being graceful. But you can't deny the guy hustles his butt off at all times. Very sad. It's pretty obvious he'll never be healthy playing sports. His track record suggests that big body of his implodes/explodes way too often.

Hot taek: Eloy has lazily lumbered in and out of LF every inning.  Always with a psuedo "I'm banged up" trot.

He either:

A.  Is actually always banged up and is legitimately injury prone.

B.  Is lazy and has now hurt himself on three occasions while performing an "all out" baseball act.

Odds are the truth lands somewhere in between the two, but thinking he can go from half-ass effort to full speed on-demand is generally not a recipe for success.
