GAMETHREAD 4/28/22: KC Royals at ChiSox (Keller vs Kopech) 1:10 pm CDT

Recommended Posts

It is seriously hard to even watch this team right now. Just terrible at bat after terrible at bat. No energy, they look totally dead. At this rate they are going to be out of the division race by the end of May.

What was supposed to be the window of opportunity for this team was slammed shut early by injuries and terrible front office moves and lack there of. Going to be a long summer of crappy baseball.

Kopech done. Pretty decent job .

Mark of a good pitcher -toughing it out when he doesn't have his best stuff. Now if he could just get a third pitch going.

No no no.

Even Manfred isn't that dumb to deliberately sabotage the sport.

Speeding it up like THIS is going to cause every teenager to give up on the sport.

I don't buy any of the publicly stated reasons for the shift ban and assume it was 100% Boras driven to make his power hitting clients hit for a better BA and therefore command more $.

Yeah, I think we truly have three of those guys now with Giolito, Cease, and Kopech.  Lynn should be a fourth guy that will almost always give you a decent outing when they're not their best.  Cease was the guy a couple years ago that would fold almost immediately once things went sideways.  He's now looking like the team's best this year.

Hopefully Hahn and KW get fired finally, and TLR quits.

Every year there's a team or two that were supposed to be good that suck. It looks like this year it's the Sox.

No, they'll have to adapt by hitting more line drives vs uppercut swings.

I have more baseball acumen than most the idiots you are babbling on about. Baseball does not want singles and stolen bases to replace HR's. They want to speed up the game that's it. If they somehow decide to reduce the number of throws to 1st base like they have in the minors what's the point , to do something that 's never been done before when runners want to steal ? It's ridiculous.

That's exactly what they want.

They(MLB) think the game is losing popularity because it's not played like it was from 1950 through 1990.

They want more balls in play, fewer HRs, more CG from pitchers, fewer ks overall.

Well the Twins proved you don't have to destroy the payroll ($135ish million) to completely change the narrative around a team in one quite productive offseason.

Well, it really started with jettisoning Donaldson Cruz and Berrios.

OK Jack remember this when all that never comes to fruition. MLB cannot force into existence the way the game used to be played. Nor do they want to. Your thinking cap is askew. The sport evolves along it's own path.

Might as well think that the country is capable of the same recapturing of past glories.

Times have completely changed.

They also might want to reflect back on a time when kids brought transistor radios to school to listen to, skipped or even cancelled school for daytime WS games, played stick ball in the streets, read the newspaper for box scores every morning, etc.

I'm in agreement with you, I think that this is what MLB wants though.
