GASHWOUND
A couple of families are suing the makes of GTA 3 for $246 mill...ridicules, ain't it...have to find someone to blame...can't blame the people who actually committed the crimes..that would be stupid.. “While video games may provide a simple excuse for the teenagers involved in this incident, responsibility for violent acts belongs to those who commit them.” No kidding... http://www.msnbc.com/news/983565.asp?0dm=C11QT
LowerCaseRepublican
Holy Judas Priest Batman! Lawsuits like these have already been thrown out of courts in the past so I would damn well hope that this one is too.
Wise Master Buehrle
I can't believe there are some teenagers stupid enough to say "just like in GTA3". Morons. I play GTA3 and VC, but if I was gonna shoot someone (I'm not), I wouldn't say "just like in GTA".
Queen Prawn
I've watched my bf play 3 and I bought him Vice City (and I've played Vice City). Granted we are a bit older than a 16 year old (I'll be 27 shortly and he's 31), but what is with this country and not tkaing responsibility for your actions? Why not sue the parents for letting the kid have the game once it is bought? My brother has been a gamer for years now (he's 22) and as far as I know he never killed anyone or threw a tackle or a bodycheck on someone walking down the street. The Beast
Vice City actually wasn't that bad IMO compared to 3...a lot of racism in 3 compared to VC... If my mom hears about this forget my chances of getting the next GTA game
southsider2k5
Hmm, why can't someone start suing people's parents for being bad parents and burdening the system with welfare, unemployment, and criminal kids?

If my mom hears about this forget my chances of getting the next GTA game I literally had to beg to get Vice City. We get home, I turn it on, she's on the computer, and the first thing they talk about is COCAINE. She's like "wtf?" then continues her work. Harry Chappas
Not sure I totally disagree with this. Although I have never enjoyed video games and am not too old 32, I really don't see teh need for these type of games. The perspectives of reality and respect have totally left society. What does reality have to do with video games? I play video games to excape reality. I really don't think playing Simpson's Road Rage is the same as driving down the Tri-State, that's what makes the game fun - escape from reality and a little release of pressure. moochpuppy
Yes, let's blame video games since my kid's a mental midget. In fact lets also sue the next of kin of the Three Stooges for starting violence as entertainment. Parents, take responsiblity for your own kids for s***'s sake!!! :fyou

Because you can't get millions of dollars from the kids parents.
southsider2k5
Because you can't get millions of dollars from the kids parents. I hear class action law suit... Maybe if more people were getting sued for stupid things, they could pass laws again these kinds of frivolous law suits...

That's my escape Fan. If I have a bad day at work I go and kill some Zombies on Resident Evil or when I get home from my ecom class at 10:00pm on Wednesday nights after 3 1/2 hours of lecture I throw on the Simpons and smash some cars, sit on my nachos and swallow my gum. Well, although you don't like them/find them necessary, you have no right to force your beliefs on anyone else. The responsibility for these crimes lies solely with the idiots that commit them, or, if they are young children, their idiot parents that aren't paying enough attention to what they're doing. God am I sick of all these crybaby leeches that blame everyone else for everything. If video games could be held responsible for people shooting things then..... Re-runs of "Ellen" can be responsible for lesbianism? Harry Potter books can be responsible if a kid drives a car off a cliff, hoping it would fly? I think they should change the rating system they use on movies, t.v., cd's, etc from an age-based system to an idiocy-based system. Everyone gets tested somehow, then given a card indicating their idiocy rating. Something like this: "Hi, two tickets for The Matrix Reloaded please." "May I see your idiocy rating card?" "I'm sorry sir, your idiocy rating is a 3, you need a minimum rating of 6 to see this movie. If we let you see this movie, chances are you're so f***ing stupid you might hurl yourself off a 25-story building, thinking you could land on the ground unharmed because some fictional guy named Morpheus did it. Here's your card back, and a free rental coupon for a copy of Snow Dogs. Thank You for not wasting my tax dollars and court time on frivolous lawsuits, and don't even think about coming back for the third Lord of the Rings picture. :fyou false victims. My bf does the same thing and it really does seem to help him wind down - he comes home POd about having to work a double, he sits at the computer (or PS2) and kills a bunch of Nazis or Zombies or crashes into everything in sight and he is all better within an hour (although he'll play for longer than that). That's why I can't wait to get back in my house so I can finish Road Rage and get ready for the Simpsons game that just came out.

SuperSteve
First off the rating system is a good idea. I have both GTA 3 and VC, and they are so far from realistic. I love to play them, but ya cannot honestly say that you commited violence because in the game you can. Give me a break, I hope these people get countersued. There aren't motorcycles, and you can't jump out of a car unless it's completely stopped, and there are a few other handy things missing, but it's still a work of art. Capn12
Hell, why blame yourself for any wrongdoings you commit in life, when you can always lay it on a scapegoat?!? Pathetic, that Video game and Movie Production studios have to worry about Law Suits because their games and movies "made" some weak-willed individual behave like a moron.
