soxfan420
Wally Backman is who i think we need, he coached most of our players at one point or another, knows how to win, can play small ball with the best, and i think he can light a fire under our asses and get our players to acually play hard. southsider2k5
why because he doesnt accept anything but 110% effort??? i think thats why some of our players dont want him here. No because of him saying he wanted Jerry's job, and then calling his buddy Ron Gardenhire, and telling him to kick the Sox's ass so that he could get Jerry's job... And you dont want a guy who players have openly said they dont want, for whatever the reason(s) may be. It just wouldnt be a good mixture
soxfan420
well the players job is to play(i think they need to do that first before they take over kenny williams job) and the managers job is to manage i dont think the players should get to pick who is charge. THE PLAYERS HAVENT EARNED THE RIGHT TO b****!!!
Guest JimH
The owner down there in Florida has no personal ties to Ozzie Guillen. The owner in Chicago does ... and that simple fact transcends any discussion of why Florida didn't/wouldn't consider him after firing Torborg. I'm not overly excited about either Gaston or Guillen. Both have some flaws ... Given the choice, though, I'd still opt for Gaston as manager, Guillen as 3rd base coach, and if Joe Nossek retires, try to get Molitor as bench coach as he and Gaston have a connection. Personal ties, . If people only knew. The interview is simply to say it was done. Ozzie has as much of a chance at being the manager as my grama does. Are you saying Reinsdorf and Guillen have no personal ties? They've both come out and said they have a cordial relationship, if not a friendship. I don't know what the eye roll icon was all about, but if you've got info to back up the eye roll ... do tell, Steff.

Are you still believing that crap??? How often is something credible when it is reported by only one media source, doesn't name anyone it is quoting and never gives the person it is talking about the opportunity to respond to the "allegations"? That report was stupid....

Rex Hudler
Wally Backman is not what we need. Our players do not respond well to people like him and several have said specifically that they do not want him as our manager.So... I find it strange that one would say that..... From what I have ascertained, every player that has played for Wally in the past two years has loved playing for him. Wally is not an "in your face" kind of guy like some people want to think. As for the players popping off, that is just frustration and misinformation. Their manager had just been fired so sure they are going to stand up for him. That's natural. Wally never said he wanted Manue's job, it just came out that way in print. He was asked if he wanted to manage the White Sox and he said he would love to if the opportunity arose. He also said that he didn't wish failure on the current Sox team and that if his being the Sox manager was meant to be, then it would happen on its own. I am not saying Wally will be or even should be the next manager, but there are many misconceptions about him and of course they are stated like they are absolute fact, which I find comical. "if people only knew", meaning if people only knew the s*** Jerry got Ozzie out of.. oye ve! But I guess if ya don't know what it's about, then might as well not worry about it.. right? Guest JimH
I know exactly what Reinsdorf helped Guillen out with ... personal stuff. Ozzie stepped on his um, err, "member" more than once while he played for the Sox.
