ChiSox59
Its definitely an interesting predicament the Sox will find themselves in this offseason. In my opinion, Jose will be back if he wants to play. Only way he moves on is if he wants to (seems unlikely) or retires (would have said unlikely prior to season, but with his comments in ST, perhaps). It is hard to say this team would be better without Jose - I truly don't believe that - but the team sure falls into place a bit better defensively and lineup-balance wise if he's gone. Spend that $ on a real LH OF - I think I might jump back on that Nimmo bandwagon since he's an impending FA - move AV to 1st (can still play some LF on days when they wanna get Sheets in lineup) and move Eloy to DH fulltime. Anderson SS, Moncada 3B, Robert CF, AV 1B/LF, Eloy DH, Yaz C, Pollock LF, Nimmo RF, Harrison/Leury 2B (would hope they'd improve there, but won't hold my breath with the team option) BN: Leury/Harrison, Sheets, Engel, McGuire/Perez Team defense improves pretty drastically and much more balance in the the lineup. I think Pollock is probably back next year because he's unlikely to opt out on his end for 1/$10-12M, and with the $5M buyout, if the net cost is $5-7M for 1 year, I think Sox keep him around, which is probably fine. Spumoni
This thread aged really well. If Abreu is still here next year can Ron start it during spring training?

hogan873
Jose always starts slow and comes to life as the season goes along. This year's improvement was quite dramatic, though. Maybe because his slow start was especially slow. But he really turned it on over the last month or so. On 5/24, he was batting .225 On 6/7, he was batting .260 On 6/29, he was batting .284 Today he's batting .299 His power numbers are down, but so is everyone else's on the team. He's on pace for about 19 HRs and 75 RBIs vs. 30 HRs and 117 RBIs last year (considering about the same plate appearances).
