Garfien said something negative about the White Sox!?!?!

On his panic episode, he said that "maybe in July" if they decide to move on from Harrison and started discussing options - he brought up Yolbert. Admitted that he doesn't watch him, so he was going purely off average, OBP, and OPS, but basically handwaved him as a non-option for the Sox due to lack of power. Wants them to trade for Brandon Drury from the Reds.

That would be the first time I've heard of him acting like a White Sox prospect wasn't a future Hall of Famer, at least. That is good info, thanks.

I think some Yolbert skepticism is warranted, but it's difficult having too much of it when the options ahead of him are so underwhelming.

Yeah, I've been obviously banging the Yolbert drum for a hot minute, but that's only because I expect him to solid, which this lineup sorely needs. That's probably why Chuck isn't over the moon, because instead of dreaming of Mr. 3000, Gold Glove Nick Madrigal, it's just a guy who fills the need instead of potential star.

Also, @bmags, how have we never had a discussion about that beautiful center field dragon???

That looks like something they brought over from an abandoned amusement park, lol.

We can also all rest pretty assured of the fact that Yolbert and/or Romy Gonzalez will never be future MLB stars...but it speaks to the desperation of the fanbase to will them into everyday playing time at the next level, the back-up QB syndrome.

And at least this week gave everyone (not so into prospect buzz) Davis Martin to track much more carefully, along with Mena and Burke.

Burke strikes out three in the 4th. Up to 7 now. Some pretty curveballs and sliders that inning.

This is great. Feels like if his command keeps improving his stuff plays.

Funny, no actually typical how recently our minor league pitching hopefulls were Lambert, Dahlquist, Kelley, and Thompson and some others but now it appears Martin, Burke, Mena, and Vera may lead the pack.  It is great we have had some lesser heralded players emerge but need the first four to reemerge.  The old adage of you never have to much pitching holds true.

And Martin is a good reason to hang on with those young guys anyway. He was inconsistent but had stuff and showed occasional brilliance, then put it all together at age 25. A guy like Kyle Kubat wasn't going to do that unless he had a huge velo increase.

So you are exactly right, get good arms, develop them, pray for health, the cream rises to the top.

Realistically the only one who is running out of time is Lambert.  The other three are still so young and have plenty of time and space to grow.
