That's why I said maybe I shouldn't care anymore. Or at least adjust my expectations accordingly such that a playoff appearance would make me content until that change happens.

Pretty much the standpoint of any rational AL Central fan since 2016.

Some of my sister's in-laws are related to Nicky and THEY don't talk this much about him being from Chicago!

Jason seems to be obsessed with anyone named Nicky from the Chicago area....check out the next time they play the Rangers.

The Twins traded Berrios in a similar situation and it worked out fine.

If you can't extend him...there isn't much choice because of our far system, draft position and lack of payroll flexibility over future seasons.

The expectations for both franchises going forward couldn't be more different, but sure.

But his fWAR is lower due to how many games he missed.

So hard to say he's more effective when is missing so many games.

When's the last time he played 145 games?

He's never been a 500 AB's per season guy. He does well ususally when he does play whether its 200, 300 or 400 PA . Outside of when he was 27 and got some MVP votes and close to 700 PA's he just hasn't stayed on the field long enough.

The expectations for the Sox need to be adjusted, IMO.

Even if you want to adjust and say that this incrediblely awful start for the entire team is the new normal, they are still putting up .500 results.  The Twins were awful last year.  Try again.

Also, if that is your expectations, why are you so upset about these results?

Their run differential says they're much worse than a .500 team.

The FO is going to bring the band back together though and say this was a "Murphy's Law" season where everything that could go wrong, went wrong.

You're forgetting who won the Central in 2019-20.

They have two MVP players and a LOT more financial flexibility than the Sox or Tigers.

Sometimes moving on from expensive vets like Cruz and Donaldson is addition by subtraction when you have such a young team.

Kepler Sanchez Jeffers Polanco Larnach Kiriloff Lewis are younger players and they have a much better farm system.

Already jettisoned their aging/expensive vets except for Urshela and Arraez.

They were supposed to be a playoff team. They're not.

I'm still coming to terms with the fact that they're bad.

Thank you. I have not reached the acceptance stage yet.

You are the one telling me you knew this was going to happen though.

Yes. They’re nothing alike, really. But whatever. If Sox are 15 games under .500 come mid July, then we can talk a Giolito trade that still won’t happen.

I mean sure, if the Sox truly collapse, trade anyone and everyone.  Personally I would rather see them fire the manager, but we all know that isn't going to happen.
