It was similar, but I think this year is a much more extreme version of those struggles. Grandal had a .145 ISO in April last year and then it was .273 (with a .136 avg lol) in May. I'm sure all of his batted ball/quality of contact metrics by even early May last year would have been outrageously good.

Leaning toward one bad start against a hot team myself. 

So far this year, his K rate is up, his walk rate is the same, his hard hit rate is down, and batters have outperformed their expected stats. This sure looks like an unlucky stretch.
