Engel is 4 for his last 30 and has looked brutal at the plate.  The other three are hitting it pretty well tho.

I trust you more than myself… as I’ve been passively watching lately and didn’t rely on stats for my statement. That said, whoever was writing off the bottom 4 was shortsighted IMO. Time will tell…

Could easily see us having a 1 run offensive performance as a 6 run showing.

Looking forward to the game, which is something I haven’t been able to say for about a month. :P

Good to see the disheartened are  getting hoovered  back in.  Just split the next 2 and get 3/4 from Bal and a 5-2 week would be pretty great.

Yeah, sorta done watching Engel right now.  I like him overall, but he's been rough lately.  Not really sure what purpose Haseley serves if he isn't going to play against RHP.

Jake is just 2/15 since returning from the IL.  I am fine with him getting the night off.

Burger has also made 3 errors at 3rd in his last 5 games there, and 4 in his 9 played at 3rd.  If he plays at all, it needs to be DH.

Totally agreed.  I am not in the play Burger at 3B camp.  He's brutal over there.  It should be a no go against good teams; fine mixing him in there a time or two against Baltimore this weekend.

Yea, my stance has long been that we can’t evaluate this team until they get healthier and had pegged 2 weeks after Lynn’s return as my personal timeline for determining who the 2022 White Sox might be.

That said, regardless of what happens - fuck Tony.

Pollock has a 593 OPS against RHP and almost 1000 against lefties.  Hahn mission a failure in that regard.

Abreu and Robert have been decent but still mid to low 700’s against RHP…726 for Luis and that obviously has to tick up to the 750-775 range.

Vaughn 877 vs. 918 is the obvious major improvement.

Burger 643 vs. 1.169 even more extreme than Pollock.

Brandon Drury, fwiw, is this year’s Cesar Hernandez/Adam Frazier candidate. Near 800 against righties and 1000 against lefties.

And PS, I was not happy with Robert’s lackadaisical play on that single that turned into a double that could of cost us.  I’m sure and hope the the useless TLR brought it up to him

Bold of you to assume that Tony did anything about it, because it has happened before this year, even specifically with Robert (and others) and I have yet to see a visible consequence.

Agree but he’s an outfielder by trade. And much faster at getting to a ball down the line

Even if he gets to that ball to cut it off in the corner…it’s a double.  Maybe he prevents a few triples.  But then Jimenez in LF is going to undermine the defense more than enough to offset any advantage gained.

That’s why I called him useless. ?

Winning the Gold Glove so early in his career didn’t help.

He needs a defensive specialist like Rusty Kuntz in KC that would demand the players’ attention and respect…with that history of turning guys like Gordon, Cain and Dyson into defensive studs.

Boston isn’t that guy.

We need those young guys like Moncada and Robert working hard or even harder than anyone else…to set an example for the rest of the team.  If Abreu can’t get through to them, another approach is needed.

TBH, my guess is Tony told them to throttle it down to avoid injuries.  It makes more sense to me than he is just willfully ignoring that players are being lazy.

Baltimore has been playing MUCH better the last 4-6 weeks.  They are no longer pushovers like DET.  That also comes from playing nearly half the season against four playoff contenders in the East.  Have won 8 of their last 14, fwiw.

RS/RA they are -39.  White Sox -38.

Is going at 75-85% actually protecting them, though?  Look at the recent Grandal and Moncada injuries.

One thing it does lead to is that getting into the scouting report that you run run run on the Sox outfielders other than Engel until they start cutting down runners with some consistency.

Fwiw, the Eloy injury was obviously flukey, like Machado having a similar play over the weekend where the 1B actually blocked his path coming over into foul territory.
