The Kids Can Play
Hahn needs to be fired ASAP and should not be around for any involvement at the trade deadline. This is horribly flawed roster in terms of plate discipline, basic hitting fundamentals and situational 101 baseball hitting. By all metrics, stats and modern day baseball philosophies, in how to put together a winning baseball team, our front office has absolutely failed miserably in roster construction in both the big league and minor league levels. This is becoming a joke between the coaches not working enough with the players and the players being too stubborn and/or stupid to make adjustments. Here are some disturbing facts on how pathetic our plate discipline is this season: Pitches per AB - 30th Walks - 30th 3-0 counts seen - 30th 2-0 counts seen - 30th 0-Swing % - 29th - Note: we have been 30th most of the season. Obviously there is no clear organizational blueprint from the top (Hahn) to all his directors in charge of scouting, coaching, and developing talent. This organization has no clue in what type of pitcher and position player to scout and draft into their farm system. Even if they do occasionally get lucky and find some talent, inevitably the Sox coaches will not properly develop those prospects. Furthermore, even if they get lucky and develop them into solid prospects, they will trade them away and watch them become stars at other teams, or destroy their potential at the major league level. Bases on all grades and factors for a GM, Hahn has an F grade over the past 11 years based on: - An overall record since his first year as GM from 2013-2023 at W-L 753-892. - 27th worst record in those 11 years. - Only two playoff appeances with zero playoff wins. - One of the worst ranked farm systems. - Horrible free agent signings. - Constantly fleeced on trades. - The Hahn era must end. He destroyed the 2016 rebuild. He shouldn't get a second chance at anymore trade deadlines or another Rebuild 2.0 if that occurs. In no other sport or under any other owner, could a GM have these horrendous results and still be employed...unless of course, the owner is the all-time worst owner Jerry Reinsdorf. The absurd joke of it all is, this POS owner has arrogantly said how dumb these other owners are compared to his genius level. However the other dumb owners seem to be crushing him in Wins, playoff appeances and total revenue/profit in the third largest market in sports. 1

Rounding_Third
Once they finally fire him, it'll take 10 years to repair the damage this man has done. But they'll just replace him with Chris Getz, the man in charge of player non-development so add another 10 years. The entire franchise has to be torn down and rebuilt starting at the top with the ownership. What are the odds that will EVER happen? The Sox are just now entering a long, long period of irrelevancy.

Imagine where this franchise would be had they secured 3-4 years of good play following their WS. Most baseball fans now think of the Sox as a AAA team no different than the Louisville Bats.

The minority owners ( aka members of the board) almost literally have no say...none in things. If he wanted to hand off control he has the legal authority to do so. But he doesn't want to do this. For example after 2005 some members of the board wanted JR to sell the club when the iron was hot, he refused. In 2008 Andrew Berlin twice tried to buy the club, JR refused. SouthSideGeorgia
Even projecting Hahn being fired, I just don’t see JR doing a proper rinse of the organization’s management for it to be effective. Plus, I doubt we get the cream of the crop GM candidates, because they know all about Reinsdorf. Probably only one thing that needs to happen for a full rinse…
chitownsportsfan
Burger and Robert have combined for 3.6 fWAR. Burger has 1, and Robert has 2.6. The rest of the lineup has combined for -.5. fWAR. There's no there there anymore. The true talent of the roster is around 70 wins. Furthermore, the extensions to Moncada and Eloy now seem premature and will hinder any trades. The Sox are in a really bad spot, much worse than they were prior to the rebuild. This is a bottom five MLB roster, a bottom 1/3 Farm, and several players are on contracts bigger than their performance warrants.
