They didn't agree on an international draft, so the QO system will exist until 2026.

Steer from Min now at #7 for comparison. Cost $1.8 million in int'l $$$ but they will only be paying Drury $300k before FA at season's end. Or 15 Leury Garcia's, haha. Scouting grades: Hit: 55 | Power: 45 | Arm: 50 | Run: 55 | Field: 50 | Overall: 45 Ranked as the No. 19 prospect in the 2020-21 international class, Acosta signed with the Padres for $1.8 million on Jan. 15, 2021. The early returns were promising as the Dominican Republic native flashes five-tool potential and hit .285/.431/.484 over 56 games in his Dominican Summer League debut, though he was having less impact offensively during his United States debut in the Arizona Complex League when he was sent to the Reds in return for Brandon Drury at the Trade Deadline. tray
Hahn stated something to the effect that he was pursuing a deal until the last minute and it did not work out. I am guessing that may have been a trade for Wilson Contreras (especially because the Sox traded McGuird) nd maybe Happ or maybe both of them since they ended up not getting traded. Regardless of my speculation there, it would be interesting to know who Hahn thought he might get and what he was willing to offer in return.. caulfield12
That’s the good news. The bad news is our final winner: 9) Any contending team that plays the Nationals This team is not going to be very good the rest of the year. So congratulations to the following contenders, who have the corresponding number of games left against the Nationals: • Philadelphia (11) • NY Mets (7) • San Diego (7) • Atlanta (6) • St. Louis (4) • Seattle (2) The Phillies could make the playoffs simply from playing Washington: Nearly one-fifth of their remaining games are against the Nats. The Nationals will be formidable in a few years. But until then: Every contender will be happy to see them. Going to be crazy when the Padres and Braves face off in that wild card series…with Phillies vs. Brewers/Cardinals winner on the other side of the bracket. southsider2k5
I wonder if with the self-destruction at the trade deadline, if that puts more pressure on the franchise to chase a bit after Conforto to seem like they are doing something. What's the point? He won't be able to play much this year and he'll probably suck. Might as well just try to sign him in the off-season. caulfield12
Lamet was awesome two years ago and then injuries completely derailed him. Maybe it was simply tactical for Milwaukee to cut on SD depth, but odds are very high the Braves and Padres will meet…and Brewers/Cards vs. Phillies on the other side of the bracket. Need to investigate further. Hader at $11 million, likely $15 million in arb next year. Dinelson Lamet signed a 1 year / $4,775,000 contract with the San Diego Padres, including $4,775,000 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $4,775,000. “Dinelson has a good arm and was included in the trade to help balance out the deal,” Brewers president of baseball operations David Stearns said. “As subsequent transactions played out, the roster fit became a little tougher. We are hopeful we will be able to keep him in our system.” Lamet finished fourth in Cy Young Award voting in 2020 but has battled injuries and shaky performance since, pitching to a 5.46 earned run average over 59 ⅓ innings over the last two seasons. By designating Lamet, 30, for assignment, any other team can claim him and add him to their 40-man roster. If he clears waivers, he may be outrighted by the Brewers to a minor-league roster or released. caulfield12
Pretty bizarre. Seems they weren’t aware he had just passed five years of service time. They brought back Hiura, also DFA’ed Pedro Severino. Perdomo in their pen was garbage…but an innings eating workhorse. Nothing close to Lamet in 2020. Also, Matt Bush is going to be better moving forward at his advanced age? Brewers’ fans joking they don’t have to worry about Steven Cohen poaching Stearns for the Mets he botched the deadline up so badly.
