Luis Gonzalez can really play some defense.  No idea why he didn't get more run when that's the biggest weakness of Sox outfielders...Engel has been just above average but not great.

The organization doesn't seem to place any value on defense at all.

Alex Call, leading off for the Washington Nationals today and playing LF

My mistake - Sox sent them Call for some other bum...maybe one of the "friends of Machado" trades.  We traded a pitcher who's still with them.

As for Gonzalez, he was a top 12 prospect, at a position of need (both offensively and defensively); letting him go was just kind of typical.

His stats looked way too good to be true in June when you took a look at his expected stats and exit velos. It eventually catches up with you.

I'm sure Danny Mendick would have suffered a similar fate had he stayed healthy. Both of their batting averages were highly inflated and neither hit the ball very hard.

I'll be in attendance when Dallas Keuchel pitches for Round Rock tonight. Not sure if I should just boo him the whole time or just laugh when he gives up runs. Weirdly enough, he hasn't been that bad in AAA.

Madrigal missed last couple of games after a mini hot streak.

10 for 36 with 2 doubles in August. He has a .035 ISO this season, for comparison Josh Harrison has a .125 ISO this year.

I was at the game where he hit a walk off homer for the Sox against the Twinkies...that was fun.

Just watched the highlights....hugs from Yolmer, Delmonico, Davidson, Palka and plenty of gatorade.  Ahhhh....good times.

Trayce Thompson 3R HR off Corbin Burnes. Surely it's just a coincidence so many players join the Dodgers and get better or wildly exceed expectations. Why bother trying to hire away coaches or front office staff from them to see if there's anything they do that the Sox can replicate.

It's just wild that Thompson's actually hitting this well. Wasn't he with the Tigers to start the year? How the hell do the Dodgers fix broken players in such a short amount of time?

Wouldn't it be nice if the Sox bothered to try and find out? If you can't beat them, replicate what they do to the best of your ability.

This doesn't work perfectly because Thompson gets some value from playing CF (8 games played there this year), but there is something on brand (for both orgs) about Trayce having a higher fWAR than the Sox have gotten out of LF + RF this year combined.

I mean, they share a Spring Training complex. It can't be that hard to do some baseball espionage.
