Joe Kelly leaves with injury

it's a weird rabbit hole to go down, but on Tuesday's game, Lambert comes in, throws all of 2 pitches and then TLR puts Kelly out for the 7th. He could have easily let Lambert pitch the 7th, thus not using Kelly at all and him having to pitch on back to back days. (or swap Kelly with Graveman in this scenario)

His constant insistence to not use Lambert or Lopez for more than 1 inning, causes over-usage of the bullpen and "could" have potentially saved Kelly's injury.

I understand pitchers warm up in the bullpen and also several pitches on the game mound before play resumes, but he pitched three game pitches total for three outs on Tuesday and Wednesday.

He's also pitched well in his three multi-inning appearances since returning from Charlotte June 2 (4 outings, 8 2/3 IP, 3 Hits, 4 K 3 BB, 0.00 ERA). He is well below his 77 1/3 IP 2021 workload (37 IP across AAA and MLB).

Joe Kelly is barely effective in one inning, and it's obvious the Sox are lucky to get that much out of him over any two game stretch.  His agent demanded he not pitch back to back the first half of this season, and had it agreed to by the White Sox in his contract. It makes sense to not use him back to back the remainder of this season, assuming he pitches again, and to perhaps wait until next year to see if that should remain a restriction after testing back to back appearances in Arizona.

This should not surprise anyone. Haven't we been going down this road the last two years?

This is such a disappointing and flawed team.

A .500 record in the worst division, after being the 4th overall betting odds favorite to win the 2022 world series before the season started.

Thank you Jerry, Rick and Tony! May we have anther!

I saw Tepera pitch today. He's got nothing left. Low velocity Meatballs.

I'll take Tepera's 3.89 era over 37 innings vs Kelly's 6.20 over just 20 innings any day; no brainer.  Kelly may throw harder but Tepera pitches better.  Same price this year but Kelly get $2m more next year.  For what?  Great thinking Tony!   Kelly's torn biceps a better option than Tepera's disrespectful rant of friend, Dusty.
