Per ESPN's Karl Ravech, Rodon

immediately cancelled his vacation plans with Ashley last November after the QO was declined and immediately set to work on proving his worth to the rest of MLB.

Built a pitching net/bounceback setup in his backyard that week and started throwing every day on his own.

Work ethic.  No number to quantify or measure it.  Seems we keep inspiring players to perform better once they leave. Luis Gonzalez, Mazara and Yermin to name a few.

Interestingly, his work ethic, weight and seeming unwillingness to pitch with pain and injuries were some of the concerns expressed about him.

Meanwhile we are stuck with Lynn, Grandal, Kelly, Pollock, Moncada, Jimenez...and even Abreu wasn't sure he wanted to play much longer after this season.

So if the Sox were going to keep him he was going to go on vacation but if he was going to another team he wanted to put in the work. That's essentially what this is saying.

Well the other reading of that is everyone on the White Sox other than Abreu with a guaranteed contract doesn't put in the off season work, either.

Or they bulk up the wrong parts of their bodies...not concentrating on the legs enough.

Rodon has already produced more than enough fWAR in just four months to make that deal a massive win for SF.

Then they will get an even bigger payout trading him...as they aren't forced to desperately chase the postseason like the White Sox are right now.

Well, making Tatis Jr. cry for 2-3 days straight after his trade and then throw out all his Sox gear certainly motivated him into becoming a $340 million player lol...so maybe Hahn should take a GM seminar on how to motivate his OWN players.

yeah i really miss the motivation Mazara has in his sub 600 ops season last year and his current 700 ops. and lol on yermin and his 50 ABs

Most argued he was never going to get another shot in the majors again, let alone SF…same with Luis Gonzalez.
