There was no one or two players out there that the Sox could have realistically gotten that were going to change the trajectory of this season. The money has been spent, win with what you spent it on. For competitive purposes, it would have made sense to sell off anyone over 27 you can get a solid return on, but it would be a drag on already poor 2022-2023 ticket sales.
