Quin
Thompson makes his AA debut today right? Boosting that trade value?
DirtySox
Tyler Osik hit for the cycle today. That's kinda fun.

DirtySox
First AAA Sosa HR! 106.8 off the bat. Edited August 3, 2022 by DirtySox 2
bighurt4life
Great to see Sosa with the HR. He’s been hitting pretty light since moving to AAA, usually the opposite of what happens when players leave Birmingham.

I hope he's developed & coached in a way to maximize that. Don't turn him into another middle away hitter.
DirtySox
I'm actually not that worried about Sosa. He always seems to struggle a bit upon promotion, then adjusts. Being a 22 year old and in AAA seems like a pretty great trajectory to me.
DirtySox
Also, Carlos Perez decided to homer and one-up Sosa with a 107 off the bat. Edited August 3, 2022 by DirtySox 2

Totally agree, being young for the level and holding your own really bodes well for future success.
bighurt4life
Simas got pulled after only 62 pitches. Wonder if they’re trying to limit his innings, seems to have had a short leash the past month Edited August 4, 2022 by bighurt4life

I wonder if being brought up to the MLB and basically been given no chance by the manager brought him down a bit

DirtySox
Lots of loud contact off Thompson.
bmags
Just a 24 year old catcher, crushing AAA with a low k rate, after watching one with a 30% k rate succeed at age 26. Nothing to see here

chitownsportsfan
the minor league system has really impressed this year. if the sox could find guys like this every year from various sources they'd be a top 10 system in no time. keep it going please. Timmy U
Perez ended up 3-4 HR, 2b, 1b and Sosa went 2-3 with a HR and a walk. Good night for the Venezuelans.

bmags
Rodriguez continues to just be a fascinating prospect. He's always been fun because despite being young with no pedigree he'd produce when no one else was. Then finally this year he was the odd one out. Completely devoid of hits and power to start year, he starts with addressing contact, now it feels like he's re-adding in power. Like he just recalibrated everything. He is the type of guy you root for, young for the level, took his lumps and has just kept working, slowly improving month after month.
