Twins smarter than the Sox AGAIN...?

We thought it was 2012 again, with the Sox playing the role of the Tigers vs. the upstart rookie-laden Sox played by CLE/MIN.

Look at the fifth starters' numbers for 2003, it was Wright, Stewart, Cotts and Porzio.   Mike Porzio was far and away the best of those four.

Compare those numbers to Kenny Rogers, who the White Sox could have affordably signed.

This year, we have Cueto (19 starts), Velasquez (8 starts), Keuchel (8 starts), Davis Martin (5 starts), Lambert (2 starts), Kelly (1-2 starts), etc.

Compare to what the Twins have quite cheaply gotten out of Bundy (especially head to head vs. the Sox), Archer, Ryan (trade for Nelson Cruz), etc.

Lack of a competent fifth starter cost the Sox playoffs spots in both 2003 and 1996, moreso in 03 but they were a factor in the Sox blowing a 40-21 start in 1996.

And I remember the Rogers situation, his agent wanted a million from the Sox...KW said "no."

Dylan Bundy was just $1.8 million, recall Chris Archer being in the Cueto range but not prorated over 135 days out of 180.
