Baseball is a strange fucking sport man. Sometimes when you've got nothing left to lose you set yourself on fire. I'm not sure TLR being away has much to do with this little hot streak but you know I'm not sure of much in life these days. If nothing else, it [life] teaches you to walk slowly.

Not so great for message board posting but better for self preservation.

Here's the way I see it. Weird managerial decisions aside, Tony just doesn't have energy. He's at an age here this job is taking such a big fucking toll on him that his doctors have temporarily taken him away from it to run (heart?) tests.

Objectively, he should just retire for health reasons, because if doctors tell a 77-year-old man that his job is causing so much stress that it's detrimental to his health, f***, just quit.

Since 2020, this team has shown that it feeds off each others' energy. With Tony in there, the energy just isn't there when he's napping in the dugout or leaving pitchers in when they're gassed. Tony may have the best intentions and think he can come back, but this team is playing well cause they look like they're having fun, despite what Mark DeRosa thinks.

It is astonishing how good Cease is. God damn he deserves to shine in a playoff game.

He’s turned into 2015 Arrieta. Every game you feel he has a shot at a no-hitter, and you’re surprised if he gives up more than one run in a game.

It's gonna be tough making an argument for anyone other than Cease for CY unless he really struggles over the next few weeks.

He had almost no fastball command today and he still ended up throwing 5 shutout innings with 8 Ks.

The only way he doesn't win is if he struggles in his next 4 starts or if Verlander comes back and gets in at least 2 really good starts.

Cease already leads Verlander in bWAR and the inning differential between them may be enough that it doesn't matter how good Verlander's peripherals are.
