Re: starting rotation. First decision they have to make is whether to offer Giolito a contract or let him walk. I’m not sure he’s worth the $10M contract he’s going to get thru arbitration.

You're not going to get a pitcher with better upside in FA for $10M.

Elvis was a great breath of fresh air for this season and he resurrected his career a bit to get another contract but it shouldn't be here.  He was released by Oakland for a reason, you cannot use your money signing him imo.

Agreed, the Sox have spent their money so insanely inefficiently the past few offseasons, that they simply cannot afford a $12m veteran role player. At all.

We can play the what if game all day. What if Kopech and Lynn never got hurt? The bottom line is the starting rotation has been above average (it’s better than Cleveland’s in fact).

Yeah, who could have saw the guy 50 pounds overweight with bad knees and the guy who threw 84 total innings over the past four seasons possibly getting hurt.  Please find better excuses than this Rick.

I’m not the one playing the what if game, you are. And the bottom line is the starting rotation has been above average despite its flaws. That’s just a fact.
