So for those thinking re-rebuild or do over...it's never going to happen in a million years. Longer time frame is the stadium deal itself from 2027-29. https://chicago.suntimes.com/2022/6/16/23171260/white-sox-bulls-blackhawks-nbc-sports-chicago-jerry-reinsdorf-bally-marquee-sinclair-rsn-dtc Edited September 28, 2022 by caulfield12
CentralChamps21
Isn't it pretty much their own network now anyway?

If that was the case, they would give themselves, the Bulls and Blackhawks the biggest deals in the NBA, NHL and MLB. Who is competing to drive the price up? Well, the Marquee Network for one, with the amount they charge. How many subscribers are going to put up with a $7.50-10.00 monthly charge if they only like the Cubs and Bears? caulfield12
Cubs were down 25% yoy. White Sox clearly didn't register enough to get a sentence even...so one can assume slightly down and not Top 3 in Chicago. Cubs around the 6+ million mark from 2021 numbers in the 8's. https://www.forbes.com/sites/maurybrown/2022/07/27/mlb-sees-year-over-year-regional-sports-network-viewership-flat-but-still-rules-primetime/?sh=b8f15346bea4

South Side Hit Men
I believe, but I'm not positive, that none of Jerry's Bulls and White Sox business partners own a piece of the RSN; he owns the entire 50% Sox/Bulls share (NHL Team and CSN owns the remaining 25% shares). When Jerry's estate sells the team, the White Sox share in the network would likely be included for the Reinsdorf family to avoid losing a large share of capital with no Spring/Summer programming with a Sox relocation. So in that respect, it helps keep the team here, vs. being broadcast by an independent entity. That said, it would be really smart for the Sox (and perhaps the Bulls) to consider over the air broadcasts and also Spanish Language over the air broadcasts. Jerry won't do it, but if he passes before the next TV deal is finalized, there is a chance forward thinking new owners would consider trying to maintain/grow future fan interest, versus serving an increasingly dwindling number of cable viewers. The Sox pissed away their 50/50 fan split in Chicago primarily due to the 1980s Sportsvision debacle, and chasing away Harry Caray. Why would the $$$/broadcast increase for the White Sox if nobody is interested in paying more? In fact, as it stands, a virtual monopoly is subsidizing the Sox by paying them considerably more than they're worth because JR also controls the Bulls and can utilize that leverage to his advantage to package both teams together with the Blackhawks. The White Sox, Bulls, and Blackhawks already own NBCSN and they bought out the Cubs stake as well.
caulfield12
https://www.cnbc.com/2021/11/21/sports-fans-are-being-sidelined-as-rsns-fight-the-decay-of-pay-tv.html 21 RSN's are owned by Sinclair and they're increasingly pricing themselves out of numerous cable/pay tv packages. The White Sox still have to be careful not to do the same but they're quite fortunate they are not stand alone like Marquee with a lousy product to peddle...having the Bulls largely and Blackhawks to rely upon. Cubs still have the far larger fanbase and rabid fans, in the 6-8 million range even at a low point.
