SuperSteve
How can you folks say you'd rather have Colon than Maggs. That in my opinion is insane. How much more can we take maggs for granted?? The guy is a stud, one of the best players in the game. Pitchers arms can go at any time. $14 million is how. That is a little much. We all love Mags, just we can't have a huge payroll. He is an excellent player, but last year statisitically he did not justify making $14 mil this upcoming season. If you can deal him and make the team better, you must at least consider it. Josh Beckett proved that in da world series. Maggs can be replaced, Colon cannot. How hard is it to find a guy who was 2d in da league for complete games. Colon helps save da Bullpen keeps em fresh. But if we sign him to a big contract let's just hope he has some major injury problems, his back tightened up on him a bit this season i recall. southsider2k5
It'll be interesting to see if the Yankees blow up the free agent market out of desparation, or if they decide that it isn't worth it to spend as much as they have, because it hasn't won them anything the last 3 years anyway. The sheep that are cub fans feel the same way about Sosa. $14M players do not allow a team to loss 1-0 to the Tigers twice and padres. Maggs is a good/great player but he does not do enough to absorb about 25% of our salary. Not sure why we can only operate at $60M but that is the team.
