Decent enough depth arm I'd like to see the Sox bring in. Just checked to see if he has an option and he does. Edit: just checked his SSS in the majors. Yikes. Harold's Leg Lift
Wow a shockingly good FA signing by the Pirates but of course it only greases the skids for when they trade Reynolds away.

he gone.
cool for mccutchen & pirates. it does seem weird to me that he was tied to the mets and a few other winning teams this offseason. Guessing one of a few things on this return to Pirates: - this is his last year and would like playing time to hit 300 homers and 2000 hits - they offered him some sort of deal/path to being a bench coach/part of the organization - or maybe as simple as they offered him the most money knowing he'll sell tickets. either way, cool reunion. always thought in a pinch he was a good fit for the Sox to fill RF for a bit & bring a veteran presence (and in a worst case scenario could cover CF for a week or two Robert IL stint). Chicago White Sox
Our OF depth is absolutely atrocious…no one to blame but Hahn when one of our three OFs goes down and we’re forced to use a 1B or AAAA types out there. IMO, this is such an obvious roster flaw that Hahn should be fired if/when an injury happens.

With that said, the Sox aren’t serious about contending for a title. This roster has so many holes it’s ridiculous. 1 2

This off-season has been pretty good, they were never going to spend money, be happy” crowd to come in and tell you you’re wrong. Shame on you for thinking they would try and actually act like a contender.

Tnetennba
Best we can expect are Minors/NRI signings now yeah? And a whole lot of magical thinking expecting everyone to stay healthy and bounce back. This off-season serves proof that they were never serious about contending. It’s going to take a ton of luck/health and some breakthrough performances to be more than a fringe contender in the worst division in baseball. I’m ok with banking on bounceback seasons for many guys, but to rely on two rookies and have no depth creates zero margin for error. It’s just bad planning and it’s scary to think what would of happened if Pollock exercised his player option.

Hahn was correct about something. Having the same fools in charge, doing the exact same thing, shouldn't surprise anyone. If they were serious about winning, RH and KW would have been shown the door. The good news this time is that they haven’t yet made a classic Hahn trade for a veteran that winds up costing way more than expected, so the damage on future years is limited. However, if they had only $17 million to spend after Pollock opted out, signing Benintendi to a 5 year deal and Clevinger for $12 million, but deferring $10 million of their 2023 money onto future years so that you can have them right now is still kinda icky. he gone.
well ... two more reasonable options off the board. Brian Anderson and Duvall are gone for the prices of $3.5mm ($2mm in possible incentives) and $7mm. We're down to basically Naquin & Robbie Grossman as one of the few options I'd accept. I can see the Sox signing Ben Gamel or Naquin - they've been tied to both previously. woo hoo.
