The current host on MLBN  is a White Sox fan. They just discussed the team. Hes more depressed than any of us and is flabbergasted at their lack of aggression.  Said this is the most significant offseaon of his lifetime

Don't know about most significant offseason of a lifetime. Was he not alive a few years ago during the Machado/Harper debacle?

Baseball will never learn. They should have some kind of soft signing deadline at the winter meetings. Their elongated off-season is so bad for the sport.

So true.  The NFL is absolute blast and that’s what the MLB needs to get to instead of elongated game of chicken between owners & players that happens every other year.

A deadline and incentive to sign the big boys. Maybe waive the QO loss if they are signed either before the meetings to spur the trade market. Or at least by its end. Such a lost opportunity.

The reality was there was no gun to a head in those off-seasons. You could have lost there and made up for it the following year - they just chose not to. I would argue the off-season everything went sideways was one which on paper wasn't awful, when they got Lynn - but at same time they made an awful mgr hire and than everything from there was bad.  Last off-season was probably the absolutely worst - where they missed EVERYWHERE.
