1549
If Edgar is done in Seattle, do you think Seatle would take a look at Konerko? We might have to eat some of that contract but perhaps we could get a couple of good prospects such as Jamal Strong and Rafeal Soriano. Anybody think this is possible? They might take a look but you could forget getting Soriano. I'm not sure you could get Soriano for Konerko if Konerko made only 2 or 3 mil. Soriano looks like a stud up to this point.
Dick Allen
Konerko gets an extra $500,000 a year each of the next 2 years if he is traded. Nobody is going to take him.

witesoxfan
How much does Jeff Cirillo make? I'm thinking we make a your problem for our problem type of deal where we get Cirillo and say Jamal Strong, and they get Konerko. They actually have use for Konerko as a DH, we use Cirillo as a late inning hitter/utility player type, and Strong stengthens our minor league system. I could see a move like that happening. DBAHO
They already got Olerud to play 1st and they prob want to giv some young guys like Snelling (an Aussie!!) and Bloomquist some time at DH, but yeah it could be possible. Think we could Clint Naeole (another Aussie) for him? He's puttin up some great numbers down at AA or AAA i think.
KipWellsFan
Isn't Seattle looking to get Rafael Palmeiro? Who's Jamal Strong?
RibbieRubarb
Isn't Seattle looking to get Rafael Palmeiro? Who's Jamal Strong? Seattle is looking to pick up Raffie. The only possibility I see is Paulie going to LA for pitching. It was Danny Evans who got Paulie here. So if he still GM, I see that as the only possible destination. The only other far-fetched one is the Reds taking him, if we take Griffey off their hands.

The only other far-fetched one is the Reds taking him, if we take Griffey off their hands. I had never thought of that. Konerko for Griffey....I would do that in a nano-second. If Griffey gets hurt, like he has the past 3 years, then, IMO, we lose....obviously. However, Griffey returns to a somewhat decent form, and we have ourselves a steal. Konerko will rarely ever put up better numbers then what he did in 2002(about .300 30 110). However, if Griffey is 100% health wise and plays half-way decent, we could be looking at .270-.280 35 110, and though those numbers aren't incredibly better, you consider that he is a good LH stick in the middle of the lineup and breaks up the righties, and can play a solid CF....I like it. Have Cinci take on $1 mill per year, which means they spend $9 mill a year and we spend $11 mill a year....only adding $2 mill to the payroll....and if it all worked out, we could be one hell of a team next year, especially if we made a trade that involved Maggs and got a s***load of talent in return. Bloomquist is comming down here to Play SS and Center Untill Willie Harris comes the 26th No way Cinci Wants Konerko they had him once
YASNY
That Konerko for Griffey deal just might be doable. Just because a player leaves a team doesn't mean they won't want him back. See Jeff Conine for an example.
