In light of the elite nastiness of Joe Kelly's pitching recently, I've been really thinking about his spring comments on Schultz having "better stuff." Anyone have a scouting report on him? UDFA, so there isn't much. From Prospects1500: "Signed for $50K as a undrafted free agent, Connor McCullough made history last week by throwing the first no-hitter in Kannapolis Cannon Ballers team history. His signing scout Torreon Woods shares, “He’s an even keeled guy, doesn’t get too high or too low on his accomplishments and failures and I believe that serves him well on the mound when facing a sense of adversity. He has a very competitive mindset with a will and drive to win. He’s the guy you want on the mound when you want to win a game.” So far, so good as McCullough has posted an ERA of 1.67 for the season. In 32 innings he’s allowed only 19 hits while striking out 39 and walking six." From RotoBaller: "Chicago White Sox minor-league pitcher Connor McCullough, 23, was signed as a non-drafted free agent out of Kansas State in 2022. A low-risk addition at the time, the right-hander has developed into a very promising arm within Chicago's system. Despite a limited sample size, one could argue that the White Sox found a true diamond in the rough. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound hurler has a standard four-pitch mix with a fastball, curveball, slider, and changeup. The fastball and curveball appear to be his best two offerings; they complement each other nicely and both have proven to be effective at striking batters out. He has also done a great job locating the strike zone, minimizing walks and home runs and inducing plenty of weak contact. This past week, McCullough delivered an impressive seven-inning no-hitter. He allowed just one walk and struck out eight batters along the way. Furthermore, he has not allowed a single run through three starts in the month of May. Keep an eye on McCullough, because it appears the White Sox might have uncovered a rising star."

Autumn Dreamin
ICYMI, some notes on Schultz: Quote [Signing scout JJ] Lally states, “In a normal year Noah Schultz doesn’t fall to us, this guy has the chance to become the face of our future starting rotation, at pick 26.” [...] [Schultz' pitching coach Mark] Sheehan said the movement on his two-seam fastball is so extreme that it frequently confuses the Trackman sensors that record data for every pitch and batted ball. [...] Based on Schultz being left-handed and the arm side movement he gets from the offering, Trackman more specifically mis-characterizes it as a slider thrown by a right-hander. [...] The scout suggests that at full evolution, his pitch mix may feature an 80-grade fastball, 70 slider and 60 changeup. [...] The two seam fastball consistently registered between 95-97 mph on the radar gun while the slider was thrown at 82 mph with a spin rate in excess of 3000 rpm. Timmy U
Excited to see Elko and Burke in Dash unis tonight. Good for Tatum to go to AA post pre-tacked ball era.
