Texsox
. . . your new hire is indicted a week after you sign him. I'm certain we can write a book on things that go wrong on the days, weeks, and months after signing. . . . his agent insisted on no back to back games for three months. Former Royals' closer Escobar was signed 3-4 years too late...or pretty much a strong majority of ex Royals/Buddy Bell Specials, like Mark Teahen. Joakim Soria was "okay" but best days also behind him, of course.

Dick Allen
He was accused of beating the mother of his child and either spitting tobacco or throwing a wad of tobacco on his infant before he ever put on a White Sox uniform. Dick Allen
They emphasized they spent the same as they had spent on Carlos Rodon a year earlier.

GreenSox
The GM's first signee as a GM earns a -1.7 fWar in year 1 (of 3), and has to be released in year 2 before playing an inning. With a month of trading for a player deemed a "premier starter", the GM has to explain that he believes that the issues are "fixable" and not an "unprecedented evaporation of talent."
MiddleCoastBias
..... you signed a career utility player to a 3-year, $15.5.M extension to "beat the market".

South Side Hit Men
your 3rd overall draft pick says 3,000 hits is his destiny, and is stuck on 148 three years later. friends and family are signed before, not concurrent with, the main FA target. both Rick and Kenny claim they nabbed their number one player target at the deadline. can’t stay healthy two weeks after an unforced mid-season contract extension. your all time largest contract goes to a guy who hit 5 home runs last season. your high priced old free agent has no other legitimate offers. Tony recommended the guy.
