1549 Posted October 29, 2003 Share Posted October 29, 2003 Is it true that it is harmful to travel on airplanes when there are solar flares? I have always been curious about how the suns flares/rays affect astronauts. I know people are only supposed to travel across the earths poles once a year, otherwise they recieve too many harmful rays from the sun, roughly equivilant to getting an x-ray without wearing the lead blanket.
