The Twins DFA'd Dylan Floro today. He was a 1:1 swap with the Marlins for Jorge López at the deadline.

The headliner of their trade to get Lopez at last year's deadline, Yennier Cano, has 70 IP with a 2.17 ERA/1.02 WHIP this year for Baltimore...where he has since been rejoined by the guy he was traded for.

The O's reclaimed Jorge López after he was waived by the Marlins at the beginning of the month. Talk about selling high/buying low.

Yet another reason Kim Ng wasn't exactly a slam dunk White Sox GM candidate...simply due to her past Sox origins/connections.

Checks notes.

Kim Ng has Burger for five years controlled. 1/2 game out of the playoffs.

Chris Getz has Pedro Grifol for two years controlled. 26 games out of the playoffs.

Why not the Mets?

Well, whether she could win with a $120 million payroll and KW doing a Hoyer Special like the Padres trading Burger/Rizzo to the Cubs for Cashner and then later taking a position with the team...we will see how that works out.   Or maybe KW was just trying to screw over or block Hahn?  We will probably never know.

Would have also listed the Mets if they didn’t hire Sterns. Another solid candidate never considered by Jerry, even for an interview to ask how successful franchises conduct business.

Beyond Himes who Jerry hated for building his best organization but not kissing enough Reinsdorf ass, Jerry only hires people who shoot the s%*# with him in the owners box (Hawk, Kenny, Hahn, Getz) or recommended by La Russa (Schueler).

Minneosta got fleeced in this deal not Miami.  Minnesota gave the Orioles the good prospect.  Both ends of the trade this year were released.

Lol.

You're right. But Elias like Hahn will be AL Executive of the Year running away because of that roster filled with youth and more still coming in the pipeline.

Yeah, that's the point I was making.

Unfortunately, someone somewhere along the way happens to be tangentially related to the Sox, so "the Orioles fleeced the Twins for Jorge Lopez last year AND got him back for free to boot" got turned into another retread "White Sox bad" discussion.

Ng was just taking a flyer on getting a return for Floro who looked headed for a DFA either way.

Opening Day starter

Wow...really in cost-cutting mode.   They're likely going to have to decide soon whether to put Bieber on the market, which would mean yet another option out there to Dylan Cease.

There will be a lot of interest in Quantrill as well if he is proven to be healthy.

In a bid to forestall another season of uncertainty on the local media front, the league on Wednesday asked a Houston bankruptcy court to deny Diamond Sports Group’s recent request for more time in which to hash out its overdue Chapter 11 restructuring plan.

In a pair of motions filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas, MLB and five of its clubs (the Atlanta Braves, Cleveland Guardians, Detroit Tigers, Milwaukee Brewers and Texas Rangers) objected to Diamond’s Sept. 29 request to push the deadline back another 60 days.
